I envy you creative people, but, to thine own self be true and you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Here endeth the lesson.
Rikki, you have always been good at this stuff.

Rikki, my best guess. Yamaha had a reason for setting the pads to work that way. Your job, my job is to discover what they are saying -------- or invent a way we are comfortable with. With the Kn7000, and the pa4x I used the pads a lot. (nice words “a lot”)
I will begin to work with the pads this week. I wonder if it’s possible to copy a part from one group of pads, and add to another pad. I did this with the Pa4x, four of my favorite pads into one. There were times when I recorded my own pads. Playing with drums and bass, and four pads, changed the style a lot. (there I go again)
A healthy new year, and keep enjoy your Sx900, John C.

Bernie Hi Bernie Used to be. ( I was just hopeless at music itself haha) I was a technology junkie back in the 80’s /90’s. Used to love reading manuals. Had a partime job in a music store in the office answering help calls, and doing lessons on how to use your keyboard, workstation whatever. Scariest task they asked me to do , was front a class of 40 or so music students. The school had bought a workstation and couldn’t work out how to use it. I finally agreed I’d do it, only one problem, it’s one I’d never owned, they didn’t have a second workstation for me to take home and try out, only the Manual. Haha It actually worked out well, I fudged my way thru it. Haha Stopped reading manuals, but still enjoy working stuff out. Only problem is, brain doesn’t work as well as it used to. Haha

A healthy new year, and keep enjoy your Sx900, John C. Hi John, looks like yamaha pads are set up to be added to or you have to press stop button . Most instances probably fine. Good part is you can set them to sync start in a Registration , but not to stop. Hence I had to set up my 4 pads as individual multi pads, so that I would only get one pad playing at a time. With my p121 /sx setup I can’t reach stop button. I don’t think you can mix n match pads from different groups in the sx itself. ( like the korg) There is free software available that should allow you to do it. Haven’t tried it yet. There is a certain amount of onboard editing, ie copy and paste, but I think it may just be for the pad you’re editing at the time. I’m doing some more checking later today, be great if I’m proven wrong. There’s also step edit and record and record of course. Basically pretty good on the whole. If you are going to have up to 4 pads playing at the same time, you shouldn’t have any problems, that’s the way it’s designed to play them. Happy New Year to you too John.
