Great thinking Jan - it would enable the use of USB memory sticks - but I would think you would need to re-educate the keyboard to 'speak' to the emulator - in other words a bit of reprogramming of your KN7000 I guess.

hi roger
my main concern is that the floppy drive in the 7000 that the emulator is fitted into transfering data would still be just as slow as the floppy so there is no real point in fitting one apart from storing lots more files

Some more stuff from 2015 - these folk might be able to advise on speed...

I wouldn't think access speed is that big a deal anyway. But storing almost unlimited files on a single USB stick is what most people are using it for.

If you're performing in front of an audience then access speed is everything because dancers will quickly return to their seats if you have to wait 15 seconds for a floppy disk to load up the next settings. However the SD Card system in the Technics KN7000 is very quick and will hold settings for over 1800 songs.
As Microsoft have updated their operating systems so the process of transferring tracks (MP3s) to an SD Card has become impossible to operate, and it wasn't always all that clever anyway. I take Jan's point in that using a Gotek emulator enables tracks (MP3s) on a USB stick to be played instantaneously hopefully.
