Logan has been able to go home. He is resting, and will take a couple more weeks off before trying to come back on a part-time basis. Just found out that he was on an lung transplant list the day before he started recovering.

I went in for a cyst removal from my neck at the back. Was supposed to be a 45 minute procedure. Was out on general anesthetics for almost 4 hours. Growths from the cyst were dangerously close to the spine. All is clear, but, since I could not drive for 24 hours on pain meds, I didn't take them (ouch, ouch).

Do like my new 2020 Subaru Crosstrek (8th new Subaru-3rd Crosstrek). got a $750.00 coupon for being a loyal, multiple buyer; then got a duffel bag with leather trim one day, followed by a nice blanket and stainless Subaru mug.

Actually had a little tiny Subaru van in college. It was 2 cylinder, two stroke (lots of black smoke when I didn't watch how much oil I added).

Was shared by the brothers in the Sig Ep fraternity house.

Had to get a running start to pull the steepest hill downtown.

New one cost $5,000.00 more than my first house.

Man, am I getting old!

P.S. Car stops at every light or stop sign. A counter displays the time shut down, and the gas you're saving. So far, the engine has shut down 37 minutes. Gas saving? .137 gal. That's a savings of a little over a quarter. WTF?

Be well, all

Russ

Glad to hear you and Logan and both doing well. Think I hang on to my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with more than 150,000 miles on it, yet still runs like a Swiss Watch. Usually, I get rid of a car when the paint fails to hold the body together any longer. The old heap still looks good, gets about 22 MPG (city), more on long trips, and I would not hesitate to drive down to see Don Mason perform, but I'm just too busted up for that kind of drive anymore. (must be gettin' old!)

Keep on keepin' on, Russ,

Gary cool

Thanks for the health update Russ. Wish you and Logan all the best.

Never owned a Subaru, but was always close. Being a long time Toyota owner, I just find it hard to switch, brand loyalty I suppose. If it works with little or no problems, why change? Sort of like arranger keyboards.

You're not getting older, you're just becoming a classic

I've been driving some kind of hybrid for the last 20 years. Up until my wife stopped driving, we were a two-hybrid family. She liked small cars, hence a string of Prius's, Ford Fusion Hybrid, Honda hybrid, Nissan Leaf; for me, mostly Lexus Hybrids. Latest car is G80 Genesis - it was either that of MB E350. I figured I'd done my part to save the planet and to not pay the 10-12k premium for a mid-level hybrid anymore. I probably don't drive 2k miles a year anyway. With all my aches and pains, comfort suddenly became more important than my lawn sinking smile.

Of course this post is about Logan; okay, and maybe a little about Russ smile smile. I'm excited about his progress because as soon as he gets a little stronger, he'll be heading this way for a visit (yeah, he'll have Russ in tow but that's alright smile smile ). I've got a couple of old bass guitars and a whole list of questions on some of my photographic gear waiting for him smile.

Seriously Russ, don't push it. You ain't no spring chicken anymore (even if you think so smile ).

Good to hear Russ. My 06 Scion has 130k, my 06 Expedition has 215K! 2012 Escape has ONLY 100K.

Larry, I like Toyota's, too. I have a Tacoma and a 2008 Scion XB. We couldn't get much in trade for the Scion, which just turned 40,000, so I am reworking it....paint, lowering 2 inches, trailer hitch, rear carry basket, white steel wheels, A safari looking top rack and basket...$2,500 in upgrades. Had two others before this. Got interested when Guitar Player magazine dubbed the earlier, small square one (the one Don Mason still has) the perfect Gig Rig.

Used ones with with lots more miles are going for $9.999.00 at Car Max. I'll have $6500.00 in this and it's a cool little piano hauler.

Ah, big boys and their toys!

Russ

PS: Thanks for the concern for my boy. It came just when old dad needed a boost.

That’s good news Russ.

Our BMW shuts down at every traffic light and stop sign.

Scary experience at first. Haha . husband was always worried whether it would start again when he was ready to take off.

Always made me wonder if it affects the battery or starter motor.
One thing we did find out , the type of battery uses is expensive.
BMW over $600, the dealer told us to shop around, picked one up for just over $300.
Normal batteries ( which it can’t use) about $150.

Yea, Rikki, I think that quarter saved on gas is gonna cost major bucks for starters and batteries.
