Hey Bebop: Seems like the older you get the better you get, like good wine, so don't despair over birthdays. Just remember when you stop getting older,------------- YOUR DEAD. Happy D/Day ARJ

Happy Birthday, Bill. I know Art and Grandpa Doug get better and better. I don't feel any smarter at all in my 70's. Quite the contrary. But the permanant vacation of retirement is fantastic!

Bebop: Happy Birthday!
Feb 27th is certainly a terrific day of the year to celebrate one's birthday, especially because we both share the SAME birth DATE , give or take at least a few years of course.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEBOP AND SCOTT!
February 27th is an important date in my life, too. It is my father's birthdate. He was a wonderful father and I miss him - even in my 70s. You two have a super day.

Hey BEBOP and Scott! Many, many happy returns of the day! Birthdays are such special occasions because without them we wouldn't all be here! Anyway, my philosophy for you both is that we cannot control GETTING old, but we can control BEING old! Remember, age is a quality of the mind and with friends like the Forum members and the magic of music, we will never really be OLD! Happy, happy birthday to you both!

Hi Scott!
Thank you for honoring my father. It says a lot to me about the kind of person you are - a fine human being.
As an aside in regard to my dad, he was born in a little town called Barns in northeast Kansas in 1895. When he was very young, he and his family travelled by covered wagon across the prairies to northwestern Oklahoma where he grew up. He served in France during World War I. He wrote his biography. We still have the handwritten pages. It was published and is a treasure. His account of his experiences while "on the trail" to Oklahoma makes very interesting reading.

Chuck, Do you recall the name of the little town in Oklahoma? I was born in Wichita, KS, but grew up in a little town in the North part of Oklahoma. My dad had to go into the service for WWII shortly after I was born, so my mother moved us back to Oklahoma when I was just 8 months old. No wagon though! DonM

Hi Don,
Yes, I do know the name of the town. It was Garber. I haven't been in that neck of the woods for more than 60 years probably. It is my understanding that Garber does not exist anymore, or is now just a shadow of the original town. My mother taught school in Leedy. Dad and mom lived on farms in those days. I think they were 40 acre homesteads. My mother's brother, Roy, was mayor of Leedy when he died of pneumonia at age 32. My mother's sister is still living and will be 107 years old April 4th. I was able to spend some time with her when I was home this past summer. She is amazing! She is a great fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team. If you wish, feel free to e-mail me and ask any questions you like. I'll do my best to answer them.

Happy Birthday Bebop and Scott....and many more.
I missed the announcement, I've been trying to get my computer upgraded to Windows XP. It was not all smooth. I tried to just upgrade from 98 but ended up having to format my Hard Drive.....Phun Phun Phun.
