Another feature and tip on the G70.
I have read many discussions about the use of OTS and registrations.
My conclusion, if you enjoy setting up your keyboard.. fine..
but it screams "fake" when used to perform.
I personally never use OTS, I rather use my 6 real time parts and if needed, select
any sound from the 16 categories.
I want the same band "all night".. Some brands change the band from verse to verse!!
It screams "FAKE".
As for using registrations for songs and multiple regs to boot.. Not I.
A lot of nonsense and wasted time that can be used "Just playing".
Now for a tip and feature I use on the G70.
I am probably the only G70 user that uses this feature.
It is the "Cover"..There are 30 different Covers available and several are very useful to me.
The cover assures you that you have the same band "All night"
Let me explain, If you use a style (arranger play) or song (SMF), you can perform your way.
For example, let's say you like an acoustic feel band, or live band.. There are a selection
of covers the work well. Selecting a factory style or SMF, picks the band, but you can do it
your way, by simply touching a tab on the cover page..Instantly changing the band.
Very interesting results.. That SMF sounds like a real on stage band performing.. or that style,
sounds less canned, with the "house band"playing.
Other benefits why you should use "covers", If you are playing "Dance" music and want to
wake up the dance floor, the covers allow you to select that drum kit and that bass
that will fill the floor.
Easily by selecting a cover tab.
As for registrations, the only way I want to use user programs on the G70..
"special" set ups.. Say an ELVIS set, I want to use my Harmonizer with Elvis's back up singers,
and special edited sounds (saved to a user program)... for the entire set.
My user program and cover work together, if I am using a style or SMF.
I only have to play my part.. Not mess around with registrations, and selecting poor OTS.
(most folks use the same OTS for all their custom styles, so what is the point).
So what do you think... did I give you anything to think about?.
