1000 ways to strike a key

Today i got a question trough the phone from a young neffew.
He was trying to play his keyboard again in this time of lockdowna..

And he asked me, whats the best way to strike a key?

Now whole books have been written about touching piano keys..

But what about a (arranger) keyboard player?

While i tought about it, there are so many ways to play a note on a keyboard..
And i probably use them all based on the voice you choose
And the articulations required..

I think for every type of instrument i try to mimic i play my keys differently..
There is piano playing and organ playing.. But for us there is so much more

So how about you?

Hi Bachus,

Don't think there's a whole lot of difference in key touch, vs articulation and 'the moment'. I, for one, enjoy both weighted and soft touch boards, as I'm usually affixed to the end result.

What does annoy me and ruin the moment, are awful keyboards that just cannot get the keys to respond correctly. I dump those boards asap.

Its not meant to be about keytouch, but about touching the keys

Do you ever drum on your keys..
And when playing a string instrument get that natural feeling of wiggling your finger to try amd get vibrato?

Got it. Yes, I wiggle my finger on the 3X. Seems more natural on lighter keys than block keys. Also feels very weird to do so, unlike a violinist or those types. Pushing down the key to get that harmonica bend is pretty cool and the audience hears it.

I don't do drums on the keyboard, but I suppose it would add color, depending on the key stroke.
