Larry, I love The Mavericks ...
Back around 1990 I was playing with a classic rock band here in RI ... The leader had applied for us to play at the Providence Waterfront Festival, which was a big deal at the time ... There was only one spot left and the promoter was trying to get The Mavericks, but he couldn't and we got the spot ... G.E. Smith of SNL fame was the headliner ...

LOL, Well, it was before the height of their popularity, and it might have been more of a case of the promoter saying "Oh no, I can't get the Mavericks, now what?!?" ... Actually, that band was pretty damn good ...
