Came across several brand new "in my room " videos of her on youtube. Together with Diana Krall she is among my most favourite female singers. Two beautiful women, two terrific voices and two pastmasters on the piano.....what more does one want ??!!
John, Norah and I attended the same college. North Texas State University - now known as University of North Texas. We were both music majors. However, I graduated about 10 years before she arrived at school.
My daughter goes to same performing arts high in Dallas ,TX that Norah Jones graduated from and also took some piano lesson from her teacher Julie Bonk in Lewisville , TX. I have played with Norah Jones saxophone teacher John Racina from Denton TX. I study out of a great series of books he wrote on blues and jazz playing.
Dean, we must. have been at UNT around the same time. I also was a music major and graduated in 1994.

To get back on topic, here’s a cut that Norah Jones recorded with Bob Dylan’s son. John, I think you’d really like this album and movie it’s called “echo in the park “ It features many 60’s folk rock groups collaborating with more current artist such as Norah Jones . Good stuff. Deane
Always knew there was something connected to "fame" about you!!!
Paul, thanks for info. Never knew Dylan had a song. Seems to have a better voice than his daddy imho..... thanks for the link will check it out.
Montunoman, I actually graduated in 1968, then again in 1970 with my Masters. Norah and I were not at UNT at the same time. I ran into her at an Alumni gathering but we were not friends. I was really lucky. I attended the music school at a time when big time jazz players and big bands were still famous In America. Many of my friends from college were players in very famous big bands and jazz ensembles. I was a percussion major so most of my pro career was spent with the Dallas or Ft. Worth Symphonies and playing for the traveling New York musicals and a few pretty famous big bands traveling through town. I was what was then referred to as a Studio Musician so I got a lot of last minute calls to sub for someone In town.
John, Sorry for taking this thread in a different path. Yes, Norah is awesome and just about everyone I know that actually knew her speaks highly of her as a person too.

I like them both but isn't it funny that they're known for their singing more than their playing. They both have good, but I don't think great voices and in Kralls case I think she's a better player than singer, although that soft sexy style of hers is unique.

Saw Diana Krall at the Prov. Performing Arts Center years ago ... I really only knew her as a vocalist ... walking out after the show I said to my wife "as good a singer as she is, I think she's a better player" ... the newspaper music critic said the same thing the next day ...
