I’ve been looking at some studio desks with a sliding keyboard tray. Most of them are very expensive with some costing as much as $6,000. The Zaor MIZA 88 XL seems nice and cheaper than others. $1,699 at Sweetwater, and Thomann sells it for $900. https://www.thomannmusic.com/zaor_miza_88_xl_black_cherry.htm. The shipping to the US would be certainly prohibitive. I thought that I might as well buy an electric standing desk and have a sliding tray installed. Well, there are already desks like that. One is over $4,500. The Summit studio desk is $1,995. https://www.azstudioworkstations.com/summit-sit-stand-keyboard-studio-desk/ The price is better, but cheap components. The lifting capacity is only 250 LBS, and the board is not solid wood. I did look at the affordable Output Platform studio desk. Not totally impressed, and the tray is not compatible with many 88 key controllers. https://output.com/ A music software company that makes studio furniture. How about that?

Knowing that there aren’t too many good choices, I went ahead and got this strong base; Imovr Vigor. https://www.imovr.com/imovr-vigor-diy-standing-desk-base.html Now I am searching for a solid wood top. I wonder if 1 inch thick solid wood top is strong enough to withstand all the weights.

I'm sure 1" is fine, but I'd reinforce it on the underside anyway. Home Depot has great countertops that might work.

I love the butcher block look

Thanks for the link. It's 25 inch deep, though. I think I am learning towards 30 inch deep. If 1" is fine as you say, I might go with this one https://www.homedepot.com/p/Interbuild-6...1707/312361653. I like the white color.

Do you have Ikea in the US, as you may find something suitable reasonably priced there.

I bought a Special-T ValuLift desk, at a local-to-me office furniture dealer for about $700. There were videos showing it can support alot of weight. It has been pretty good so far ... I have quite a bit on it, but probably not more than ~100 lbs. of 'stuff' on it.

I checked out the Special-T ValuLift frame. It looks nice but the total lifting capacity is only 220 LB. The frame I bought the other day can lift upto 480 LB. My solid wood desktop alone could be 100 LBS, 88 key controller on a sliding drawer tray, monitor speakers, modules, and etc. If anyone is considering doing something similar, the Uplift V2 Standing Desk frame at $500 (350 LBS lifting capacity) would make a good choice, too. https://www.upliftdesk.com/uplift-v2-standing-desk-frame/frame

Our offices at work are currently all being equiped with sit/standing desks..
I think its a blessing when you make long hours at that desk..
Being able to change position between sitting and standing really helps being on top of your game..
No more after dinner dips at the office, it really helps productivity
It also keeps me fit, no more sore back after a long day behind the desk..
