I wasted most of today playing with a VST host program, and trying to use VIP (again). I tried to put together a demo in my head with MixCraft. After 4 hours fooling with the PC.. I spent 20 minutes on the G70.. This is what I got in 20 minutes..
With little effort.
How easy was it.. I picked a random style (one of mine). Started the MIDI capture recorder on the G70, and played. Using on board feature called "Cover" I used mostly the "Live Band" cover.. I didn't edit any levels or change instruments selected by the cover choice.. I selected an average synth brass (accidently), and just used it..
I have no doubt that most top arrangers can do modern type music..
https://app.box.com/s/rurvhqucft3fyrkz8je9n1jbfuxt6y65 Makes you wonder why Roland threw so many features like the cover function in the G70 away? Instead of perfecting it?
My experience with the cover function is that it was hit or miss, either it sounded awkward, or great..
Sad to see the Roland developers of the G70 neglecting arrangers with their new company dexibell...
Bachus, how true about the "covers" hit or miss..
I do have favorite though.. I like Live Band, Gtr1, Gtr2, Acoustic 1 and 2.. And to turn a style into a dance feel.. I change the bass synth bass and drums to hip hop via the "cover". Turn on mastering EQ and compression, and watch the floor fill up..
I take some SMF's and use the covers Gtr1 and 2, to get that Elvis feel ( slow down the ballad too).
