Well, if its true, i will be thrilled..

It looks legit, at least in the USA. What could be their motivation for doing this? I wonder if it means they are moving on to "Style File Format 3?"

I'm not an insider, just speculating here. What do they have to gain? Clear out the old to make room for the new?

Probably as base for a new campaig; trying to sell more hardware?

Used my VPN to get on to the USA website site and there are no pop-ups or ads that mention anything about being free. (Clear out your browser history and cache to see if you still get the pop-up/ad)
May also be worth running Malwarebytes (Or similar) to see if there are any infections. (This applies to Mac, Windows & Linux as they are linked to the browser not the OS)

Yesterday there was a popup notice for free premium packs on June 30

Today, no popup notice.

I'm thinking Yamaha Music Soft USA may have been hacked for a day.

Maybe a little O/T but does anyone else find Yamaha Musicsoft slow and clumsy to use? I personally LOVED the Internet Direct Connect feature, but it was dropped in the transition from Tyros 4 to Tyros 5. Is it even still supported?

Besides that, no new styles for the last couple of years.
Premium packs are also slow coming out ...
Who knows what direction Yamaha is taking.
They gave us an expansion pack for free with version 2.0 for the Genos.
In addition to that we got most of the missing SX900 styles for free.

Might be Yamaha concluded there was no real money in musicsoft anymore?

It's like a nightmare to browse, and do not stand up to the Yamaha standard at all.
At least when compare it to the speed of Yamaha Motroscyckles. 😁😁😁

The Musicsoft site is always been the slowest loading page ever , with a lot of bugs and freeze ups .
Even after opening the EU site it isnt any better .And of course there isnt a lot of new content in new styles and soundpacks the last year
And very expensive , i have orderd for more than a 1000 Euros there , and never regret ., but if they now give it away . . . . . .

Can you imagine how slow the site will be, if indeed it's true that packs will be free on June 30?

The free notice is no longer displayed, so in my opinion, someone hacked into MusicSoft USA for a day. Most likely no freebies

OK, so I actually called Yamaha MusicSoft to find firsthand what is happening. The rep did confirm that Yamaha produced packs will indeed be free, but as fozzie has noted above, there is about a 24 hr. delay. (July 1)


She told me that the free packs only apply to Yamaha produced packs. And she also confirmed it's a worldwide giveaway, not just the USA.

Please be patient, thoughtful of others, remember it's a free covid-19 relief gift from Yamaha that's available to all.

I have not changed anything and have not tried anything on my GENOS yet.

When download packs, it's several files in each zip, not for all, but for most models.
Some are named at the downloadpage, others you hav to look into the downloaded zip and use the one that fits your keyboard.

I tried to download one pack which I had in my "wish list" for a while. I was able to complete the order for $0.00. However, I haven't yet received an email with a link to actually download the content. So far it's a bust for me. Waiting...

They really screwed it up did they?

Sign in to your account, go to your page, at left side choose my library and download from there. (right side of the items titles).
If order is 'pending', just wait until it's completed.

We actually do not get the email(s) as promised.

However, we can log in and click the user profile on the top right hand corner, click "My Account", and check for the status of our orders by clicking "My Orders" on the left. If you find your order(s) complete, then you click "MY LIBRARY" on the left to find the download link(s).

Oh wow, thank you for the clarification. When I placed the order, the website stated that I would receive an email. Not sure where you got this info but it's worth a try!

When I placed the first order, I got email a couple of minutes later.
Next two 'orders', there was no mail, but orders was completet within an hour.
Guess they need some time to get it right. When follow the link to european site, it's redirected to us.
Log in with usual user and pass worked, my personal info is correct, but history and library of all bought items during the years are gone... 🤔

Just found out that the SME files are NOT encrypted. In fact the 'free versions' (SME) are missing a (fix sized) block of data from address 0008 to 0060 compared to the (payed) .cpf files.
From address 0060 up the .cpf file is identical to the .sme file.

What we have to find out : What data needs to be inserted from address 0008 to 0060?

Now I wonder: Do we all get the same smekey for e.g. SA2 Panflutes? (mine is 6E343A01134ECCAEA45C96ABF1A3****)

I see some people are asking if some of the packs are compatible for either Tyros 5 or Genos....and as long they have a PPF or CPF....Yes, will be compatible, the only thing that may not be complete, is the Registrations in the packs I have been involved, I know that NOT all the packs have those.....but the Mariachi/Norteño, Fiesta Caliente, Cumbia Latina, Salsa, Banda Mexicana, has them as well the Multipad banks we made for those packs.

After many tries, I downloaded a few premium packs that when unzipped, contained .sme files. Yamaha Expansion Manager gives an error and cannot load these. Any ideas on what to do next?

It's added a lot more, almost all as free packs to the site now, even addons for Montage and Motif.
Also look like emails sorted out, 'ordered' a couple og packs, and email found my inbox after few minutes.
Still very slow downloads that also cut before finish so we have to restart, but as Yamaha says, in a week or two everything will be better.

Now we can wonder why Yamaha act like Santa Claus these days...
Is it the end of creating addon packs, or is it due to new products coming that will have totally new fileformats?
Or, is it a sign that tell the end of the Yamaha Arranger production? 🤔
Anyway, those of you that don't have these packs, it's a lot of great styles and sounds to enjoy.

I’ve downloaded the free content yet to see what works on the Tyros 4.

Ordered the Ballroom Premium style pack which was accepted at no cost. Accepted the order but that was the end of it. No email, no download, nothing.

Currently you may or may not get an email, and it doesn't really matter. After a while (currently undetermined amount of time) and after you sign in, it will be in your Library ready to download (currently unpredictable download reliability).

Hopefully all the bugs will be worked out soon. Yamaha needs to let us know if the packs are compatible with our keyboard BEFORE downloading, instead of finding out the hard way AFTER downloading and trying to load into Expansion Manager. In fact they need to bring back the search by your arranger keyboard model, rather than lumping all packs together without knowing for sure it will be compatible. Guess they have a long way to go.

My order is there as I ordered it,but there is no download button or link I can find,.

Sign in to your account, go to 'My Library'. There you'll see the files ordered.
If your order is marked 'pending' it's not ready for download, if it's marked 'completed', just look at the right side of the filename.
Look for the little 'square' as you can see in Larrys screenshot, and click it.
Warning: Site is still slow as h***, and downloads often get broken before finish.
Then just try again.... and again...and again.
Yamaha say it will be better within a week or two. 👍

Has anyone managed to download the content yet without the server crashing. .?

Quite a few of the downloads will not load into Expansion Manager with the install target being an SX-900. Why can't Yamaha let us know what keyboards these packs are for, before we go through the whole aggravating download process?

Pictured below is an example, this a Choir and Vocals Pack that I could finally completely download, but only to find out it's for a Genos, T-5, and T-5 76. I'm unable to load any of these packs into Expansion Manager / SX900. Why would they not make it available for the SX-900?

It's a hit or miss for downloading, so they really need to let users know compatible keyboards that these packs will load into BEFORE downloading.

Finally, while I'm on a rolling rant why did Yamaha find the need to entirely revamp the MusicSoft website for a price change? Yamaha, couldn't you just change certain pack prices to $0 and boom, it's done? And one last thing, what's the holdup, why such a slow and cumbersome website, after two weeks of working on it, and it's still messed up? As you can tell, for me, it's currently too frustrating, and for now, I give up.

Lots of free goodies for the Yammieusers that not has bought before Yamaha did this 'give away' stunt. 😊

But, Yamaha could do this in a easier way, i.e. if they uploaded free packs to the same site as OS upgrades and free packs such as the audiofiles and manuals is to find.
Then it could be categorized for each model, they could keep the sales site for only the 'buyware' and it would be much more simple for the users. 👌
