On my SX900 I'm recalling a midi file using a registration. But when I press play it picks up a different tempo, possibly that from the previous midi file that I played (but I'm not sure)

When saving the settings i only have "midi file" selected, everything else is blank. So I've got no idea what is going on!

Is this a real glitch or have I got a setting wrong somewhere?

I know i can sort this by saving the tempo in the registration entry at the same time as the midi file but this has not been necessary previously.

Call up the registration. Tap on the Midi name window. Press Tempo + and - simultaneously, then re-save the reg.
That will save the default tempo of the midi.

Strangely enough, I find this happening on my Genos from time to time.
All updates have been installed but still get weird things happening.
Another fault is changing voices, always strings or pianos in my registrations.
I don't like clever technology and always prefer them to be stupid and rely on things I have set up.

The tempo reset and save again didn't seem to work unless I explicitly save the tempo.

I have hacked my way around the problem! I've been looking at the internal format of registration files at random intervals for quite a while, partly inspired by Murray Bests registration manager as that shows what is possible. All I can do is set a Song file path within an existing registration, but thankfully tempo settings are held in an easily identifiable and decodeable parameter block so I just had to reverse engineer that. Had to do some more backing to get bpm out of a midi file but at least that is documented. I have around 400 midi files that I want to organise into playlists so I needed registration bank files for all of those - and that's what I now have by wrapping this registration update code into a folder structure scanner.

Doubtless there's an easier way but it kept me quiet for a while. Probably quicker to have done it all by hand but that's so much more boring 😎

Song lists might also do the job but they aren't as flexible....
