The trick is that double braced support. I’ve never played on a single X stand that didn’t have some movement. The best that I ever found was the old Invisible angled x-stand (very rare, the double tier vertical one was much more common) which was angled backwards so the weight of the keyboard stressed the stand into rigidity). Tried to find a picture, no luck!

But I still hold with the basic ‘leg at each corner’ approach, which permits no motion whatsoever. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/...-keyboard-table Add an extra tier, still rock solid..!

Double braced support is the only way to go with X stands.

Indeed....

As keyboards get lighter and lighter, the weight of the keyboard is no longer much of a factor in tensioning a stand into rigidity. If it ain’t utterly stable without anything on it, it’s unlikely it will be any better once you put your new lightweight 15-20lbs arranger on it. Especially 76’s...

That’s why I like the leg at each corner. Play hard at one end or the other on a 76 or 88, on an x-stand that’s way beyond the support point. Bounce city!

As far as stability is concerned, I agree. Plus, it is a snap to carry and set up, and plenty of legroom. I own two, as well as Apex's, and the rest. If there is any shortcoming, it would be the lack of a second tier that is close to the keyboard. However, the need is rare.

I use an FC-7 foot pedal from time to time. They rarely fit under an x-stand where you want them.

I’ve used them all, x-stands, a-frames, Apexes, Invisibles, you name it. I’m never going back from the leg at each corner type. It is simply the only solution that doesn’t move AT ALL...
