Posted this a while ago, but wanted to bring it up again as a tribute to a man I thought had one of the best commands of guitar emulation here. Don always gave me ideas for licks and techniques, and I stole every chance I could get!

Hope you’re picking with the greats up there Don… 🙏😎🎹

That was as good as it gets and I’m sure Don would dig it too.

Loved the guitar licks as well as the piano. Really sounded great. That's the same style I used for that song on nearly all my Yamaha keyboards, Skiffle style. Don't beat yourself up on the vocals, there are lots of entertainers in South Florida that I came across that sounded just horrible, but they still got paid at the end of the night, though I'm not sure if they ever got a repeat performance. Hey, at least you're still working. smile

Wow that was awesome. I'm sure Don is smiling down on you and this performance. So you played both piano AND guitar tracks?

This isn’t a style. It’s audio… there are real guitars doing the rhythm stuff. I usually try to point this out, and I did kind of refer to the fact that you simply can’t play like this and tie up your left hand inputting the chords, but sorry for the confusion.

My playing style is far too ‘two handed’ for much arranger mode usage. I’m sorry, but decades in real bands covering as much as I could but never having to worry about directing the rhythm section left me rather hobbled when it comes to ‘true’ arranger playing. Most of my soloing relies on the left hand working the bender constantly, whether horn emulation, guitar emulation or synths, and pianism is definitely a two handed affair! Chord input makes this impossible.

So the vast majority of my show is either SMF’s or audio backing. Push comes to shove, the audience don’t care how it’s made, but they can sure tell the difference between a solo that is stiff and static and one that bends around like the real thing!

Or at least, I tell myself that, LOL 😂🎹

So, to clarify, I play piano except for the guitar solo….
