I think if I were videoing, I might video the solo rather than the backing, but maybe that wasn’t technically possible. Thanks for clearing it up.
I recently watched a Ketron Event demo where loops of recorded sax solos followed the live played chords. I found it very difficult to understand the point of the feature, and from an audience perspective it felt very disconnected. The minute the audience sees you not playing the solo, they tend to assume that EVERYTHING is prerecorded and you aren’t playing anything at all.
Maybe in a studio or at home it doesn’t matter, but on stage you need the audience to connect with you, to feel that it’s you playing (after all, that’s what they paid to see!) and an unplayed in your face solo is the fastest way to show them you’re not..! 🎹😎
