This year, after some medical setbacks, I'm more dedicated than ever to back up what I believe.

It's easy to just ignore the issue. It's lots harder, but way more effective in the long run to back-up what you believe.

That's what a democracy is all about.

I may not agree with much my friend Gary Diamond has to say about global warming, politics....whatever.

But, I wholeheartedly support his right to believe what he does and back it up with support for those causes.

We're as different as you can imagine in many ways. But, we are "joined at the hip" when it comes to our friendship and mutual respect.

Russ

I've always admired Gary's sense of adventure and his willingness to help people (when that help was requested). We'll probably go to our graves on the opposite sides of the political spectrum, BUT, we also have quite a few things in common. We're both 'ol' salts' (navy), we both enjoy helping people, although Gary in a more personal way, we both have a strong appreciation for 'the ladies' , and we both share the same feelings about organized religion and other scams.

I'm glad to see Russ showing him some love. If you knew some of the things Russ was involved in, you'd know this is just Russ being Russ. I've been made privvy to some of those things and I gotta tell you, he's a better man than me....by a long shot.

Of course we'd never have gotten to know these guys without the existence of a unique forum such as this one. It gave us so many colorful characters such as Bernie, Paul, Zuki, John C., and .....ah, you know who they are. Some have passed on and others have simply vanished into the ether, but they will not soon be forgotten. Some members have been here 20 or more years which is a tribute to Kerry who has kept both the forum and the spirit of Nigel alive. Here's to many more New Years.

Chas is, in my opinion, the best player on the Zone. Gary and Chas are people of real substance.

I'm REALLY glad they are part of my life.

Thanks guys. It has been a true pleasure to have known both Chas and Russ. I consider them as highly talented individuals and wish we could have all got together and enjoyed a couple of beers,but the way my health is deteriorating this will not be likely.
