Just posted about the phone call I got from Gary. The day before, I got a text from Chas.

He's private about his challenges, but wanted me to know he'd get back to me when he felt stronger.

In typical fashion, he wanted to know about Gary and wanted me to give him his best. Likewise, Gary wanted "good news" about Chas, and wished him the best.

In large part, these two guys; as different as night and day, represent a lot of what's good about the "Zone".

It has been my great honor to have been even a small part of their lives.

And they have made me a kinder, more humane individual.

Glad they are both in communication.

Gary called late yesterday. Sounded a little rough. Was having a lot of trouble walking and breathing.

Then *(Typical Gary), he started talking about his next "fine wood" construction project, and getting ready to put some fine steaks on the grill.

A GREAT friend to have!
