I am just curious if anyone has upgraded from a Genos to a Genos 2 and keen to hear from their own experiences... Is there much noticeable difference in the overall sound quality? (its not that easy from Youtube videos)

Has the new reverb engine enhanced the clarity / quality of the existing Genos 1 sounds that are carried over on the Genos2 ?

I read/heard that the CFX piano was re sampled... any noticeable difference?

Are the original Drum kits from Genos 1 that carried over to Geno2 still the exact same or have they been re sampled / enhanced etc?

It seems very quiet on the Genos 2 front I must say, which i'm sure is factored by the premium price they are charging for it...

Nick

Hello!

I've had my Genos2 since it's release after owning a Genos1 for 6 years. The overall sound quality was the first thing I noticed. I was awed by the clarity of the mix. Genos2 has such a "live" feel and sound, way more than before in my opinion. Many of the styles are song specific (not a bad thing!) and they now sound so much more like the real thing. It's like hearing an album or CD and then you realize it is you playing!. Almost all my older content works and sounds fine on Genos2. Better than expected actually........

I'm not a piano guy but I can tell you the pianos are a great improvement. Some of the new pianos are really exceptional. They seem to be more dynamic and really cut thru the mix but are not overpowering. There is a Character Grand that is my favorite. A couple new uprights are excellent too.

The drums on Genos2 are all new and different. They call them "ambient" drums now and they are excellent! The seem to work and sound very well with the Steinberg reverb. All the REVO drums the Genos1 had are still there, but they are stored in the Legacy folder. As much as I like the new Ambient drums, sometimes I prefer those REVO drums. I never thought there were anything wrong with them anyway.

I'm not a pro but one doesn't have to be one to know quality. I've never regretted buying it, but I knew years ago I would buy one after the long wait for a release. Whenever Genos3 comes out I will be first in line! But then.....I'm a Yamaha guy!!!! Best wishes. -charley

I like the ambient drums (from listening to demos). One thing I always used to do when using an arranger’s drums to make tracks and recordings was to run them through a convolution reverb with a good drum room impulse. It was amazing how something not all that convincing could really come alive with a bit of real ‘space’ around it…

Is there a pretty good drum room reverb in the insert choices? It might help some of the older original drums to run the kit through that for legacy styles…

Since November 23 the Genos 2 and the Pa5x since a month , Nice combination . But the biggest challenge is the Korg Operating system ( Genos is sooo easy in compare)

It's a great combination, no doubt. 👍
PA5X has a brand new OS and is very similar to Yamaha Genos / Genos 2 in many ways.
Korgs new OS should not be the biggest challenge for the Yamaha users, and if there is a bit of PC knowledge in addition, it's 'easy as that' to understand, operate and navigate.
