Were you able to successfully install Premium Packs for Genos into the Genos2.
If so, what version of the Yamaha Expansion Manager are you using?

I am using Yamaha Expansion Manager version 2.10 on a Windows 10 PC.

https://usa.yamaha.com/support/updates/yem_win.html

When I launch YEM and add the Genos2 as the install target by pointing to Genos2_InstrumentInfo.n27 on the root of the Genos2 USB drive, I can load these two packs.

Genos Complete Pack.cpf
DX7 Pack.cpf

However, when I try to load the Alpen Pack, I get this error message:

“The Pack could not be imported because there is no instrument capable of using this Pack”

So, I add the Genos instrument by selecting Genos_InstrumentInfo.n27 on the root of my Genos USB drive.

Now, I have two Target Instruments in the Yamaha Expansion Manager.

Genos2
Genos

This allows me to load the Alpen_Genos.cpf

However, when I select Target Instrument = Genos2, and try to select the Alpen_Genos Pack, I get this error message:

“This pack cannot be installed on the selected instrument.”

This is where I downloaded all the Premium Packs for the Genos.

https://shop.usa.yamaha.com/en/c/downloadables/sound-expansion-library/premium-packs-voices

I was able to install 35 Premium Packs on the Genos using Yamaha Expansion Manager version version 2.6 for Windows 7.

I was under the impression that Premium Packs for the Genos could be loaded into the Genos2.

Can you please point out what I am doing wrong?

Best,

David

Hi.

It's not possible to install the G1 packs at G2.
The two packs you mention is created to load into YEM and then transfer to G2.
However, if you did register your G2, you can log in to your customer account at (if you're in Europe)
https://hub.europe.yamaha.com/download?product=Genos2 or at the region you belong.
There you will find all the addonpacks downloadable for free.
Yamaha has reworked and tweaked it to G2 format, and they will play correctly at G2.

Hi Gunnar Jonny,

Thanks a million for your help!

This solved my problem.

The Expansion Packs for the Genos and Genos2 are different. This is why an Expansion Pack designed for the Genos cannot be loaded into the Genos2.

Yamaha Europe has done the necessary conversion.

They have 31 Expansion Packs converted to the Genos2 available at this link.

https://hub.europe.yamaha.com/download?product=Genos2

1. Entertainer 2016
2. Choir Vocals
3. Vintage Keyboard
4. Best of Europe
5. Country Musician
6. Ballroom Style
7. Vintage Synth
8. Alpen Pack
9. Euro & US Organ Pack
10. Church & Christmas
11. Euro Dance 2016
12. Latin
13. Greetings from Italy
14. Celtic
15. Balkan Turkey
16. Salsa
17. Italy V2
18. Middle Eastern
19. South East Europe
20. Cumbia
21. Fiesta Caliente V2
22. Fiesta Caliente
23. Mexican Banda
24. Iberia
25. Ibera V2
26. Romania
27. Romania V2
28. Indonesia 3
29. Indonesia 2
30. DX7 Pack
31. Genos Complete Pack

Note: You have to create an Account and register your Genos2 to access these downloads.
They are all free.

I had originally downloaded 35 Expansion Packs for the Genos from the UK Yamaha site:

https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/contents/keyboards/vse/index.html

These are specific to the Genos.
You cannot import them to the Genos2.

You have to go to the Yamaha Europe Site to access the Genos2 versions of these Expansion Packs.

Unless Gunnar Jonny made me aware of the Yamaha Europe Site, I would have been stuck.
