I'm pretty sure that those who think that the 18.000 styles pack is good news will be disapointed.
Most of it is probably 'rubbish' collected from the web as well as converted stuff.
But it's nice sales trick, big amount for low cost. That's why people bite the bait.
But of course, it will drag people to the commersial PSR styles site. ๐Ÿ’ฐ
Anyway,
if people do a Google seach for i.e. Yamaha songstyles, there will be some nice finds. Even for free.
If they want quality files, they will not find it in such packs.

That said, it's quite a lot of work to find 18.000 different (?) style files, and it's even more work and time consuming for those that's going to buy and explore it.
It's always up to the potential buyer, but myself, I prefer to use the time to exercise and play the keyboards.
There is indeed a lot of QUALITY styles present there already, and when add Yamahas free addonpacks, you'll be busy for a looooong time.๐Ÿ˜

Btw,
the Yamaha Musicians Forum do also gain a lot of new and knowledgeable members.
Many coming from the original PSR Tutorial, and Yamaha Musicians is not a commercial site.

Hi Gunnar,

Yes, I bought the pack for $24.99 and examined some of the Styles under the ABBA Folder.

Angel Eyes
Knowing Me
Thank You For The Music
Winner Takes It All

The Styles come with 3 Intros, 4 Variations and Endings including 4 One Touch Settings.

I have tried them on my Genos2, Genos and CVP-609. They play fine. The Right Hand 3 Voice is dropped on the CVP.

Do they compare with the Factory Styles on the Genos 2 that Yamaha paid professional Style Creators thousands of dollars?

No.

However, they are certainly acceptable to a hobbyist who just wants to have access to a quick backing style that matches a specific song.

A professional musician would pay money to acquire Custom Styles or create their own from professionally crafted MIDI Files. This can quickly get expensive.

The fact that one can get this enormous collection of 18,000 Song Styles via single ZIP Download for $25 makes it a steal of a deal.

I am happy with this purchase.

I may be spending more time auditioning these styles than actually playing any music!

The PSR Tutorial Website is the best repository of Yamaha Arranger Styles, MP3 Files, XF MIDI Files and Lessons driven by user contributions.

Joe Waters jpwaters@gmail.com started PSRTutorial.com in 2003.

That is just a couple of years after you and I joined Synthzone.

Here is a bit of Joeโ€™s musical background:

https://psrtutorial.com/perf/joeWaters.html

Roger Brenizer rlbrenizer@RogerBrenizer.com was the PSR Tutorial Forum Administrator.

Here is a bit of his musical background:

I feel the Yamaha Arranger Community has largely benefitted from the tireless work of these two pioneers.

It takes considerable amount of resources to host a website and run a Forum. It is fair for PSRSTYLES.com to recover some of their operating expenses by charging a small amount for these ZIP downloads.

Hi.

Lots of members here at SZ know the ORIGINAL PSR Tut. Also very well who that was the owner, administrators and moderators.
Myself, I've have been a member there for a quite a long time, as well as many other SZ members has been active there for ages.

It's sad to see that the new PSR Tut now turns into pure commercial business, and that the main reason to buy the site, forum (and domain?), is to get more trafic to the PSR S's mainsite and to gain more sales.
It also puzzles me a bit if it's so that files shared by former members and could be downloaded at the original PSR Tut site has become commercial salesware at PSR Styles. ๐Ÿค”

Johnny,
I couldnโ€™t agree more. What a hoax it is.
Maybe Joe Waters will figure out a way to
bring back the REAL psrtutorial forum.

Deane, I don't think that's going to happen. The train has left the station. But, life goes on....
Yamaha Musicians is a great and informative non commercial alternative where many helpful and knowledgeable former PSR Tut members already found the way to the forums.
Traffic and new members rises every day, and at top of all Yamaha categories, there's Forum parts for several other brands just as here at SZ.๐Ÿ‘

First, thank you very much for keep an eye at Yamaha Musicians Forum, and repost what you find here. ๐Ÿ‘

As you see, the Factory styles is from discontinued older models.
It's already shared by many at the web, also at the ORIGINAL PSR Tutorial, but as you see in my posts, this is information written in the posts.

You're right, it is helpful to have links to commersial sites that sell QUALITY styles and software listed in one post. Easy for those who want to explore, just copy and paste into browser.
Maybe I did a mistake by place PSR Styles there, the other sites don't sell 18000 whatever it is collected from the web. They sell own creations and also products on behalf of other producers.

There is also a lot of sites that sell 'compilations', most of it is more or less messed up and useless rubbish. Those who want such stuff will easily find it by do a Google search.
Been there, done that and learned my lesson. frown

Thank's again for repost here at SZ. ๐Ÿ‘
If you repost at 'the new PSR' forum, don't forget to mention that you found it at:

Non commercial Yamaha Musicians Forum, Arranger section:

At this point I would be interested in anyone with this style pak to take a look at the metadata for some of the best sounding styles and see if they are pirated commercial styles. Quite often if you open a style in a hex editor you can find embedded text indicating the file was created commercially.

I have always been extremely skeptical about huge style collections and the potential abuse of copyright. If anyone is wondering why there are so few high quality professional style sites, here it isโ€ฆ
