I'm using a PSR-SX 900...

I use the live control dials to adjust real time "filter" and "Reverb."

I'm finding that after I use those controls to adjust something on the fly during a song, a "pop-up" message appears on top of the screen. Its displaying the popup you see when you adjust one of those controls, but it goes away after a few seconds when you've finished adjusting it.

When it appears without me selecting it, I have to press the "exit" button to make it go away. BUT, it comes right back, over and over again - very quickly. I can't make ANY other changes until I get this popup to go away, which really impacts a live performance.

Anyone else familiar with this issue? Any suggestions on how best to address it?

Thank you,

Bill

Could there be "dirt" in the controls causing electrical noise, which the keyboard interprets as you having touched those controls?

At your own risk you might try pulling the knobs straight off and spraying the potentiometers with compressed air or CRC electronic contact cleaner. Perhaps others who have experienced a similar issue will chime in.

Be careful when trying to clean the wheel systems, as most are rotary encoders these days which are sealed. (Dirt has no relevance on these)

Those for both replies.

Other than when performing or practising, the kb sits in its case.

The owner's manual is of no use on this issue.

It’s almost certainly a dirty or scratchy knob that’s ‘bouncing’ between values and causing the pop up screen to persist. Probably worth a trip to your local tech to get done properly.

Sounds like those two parameters you use are things you use a lot. If repair proves difficult, it might be time to record your show and write permanently the desired reverb and filter settings to the registration, and perhaps see if the filter parameter could be changed to an expression pedal which is likely to be more robust and not displayed when used…
