I'm using Kn6500 as sound module for Sonar 6. When I play standard midi file from Sonar, no sound from Kn6500. Midi cable is OUT from sonar to IN in kn6500. What else do I need to do to hear sound. Thanks for your help.

Hello Peter
1. Make sure the output of Sonar is sending the Midi data to the Midi Interface that the KN is using.
2. Make sure that the KN is set to Receive Midi Data. (A lot of keyboards have Midi Data Receive turned off by default)
3. Make sure the Midi Channels match between Sonar and the KN.

Peter, You are using a MIDI interface?
In Sonar, set the midi device to your installed midi interface..You can not communicate without the interface..

I'm no expert but I was wondering whether it could be something simple like changing the format from Technics to SMF or GM etc.

Or, are the volumes down to '0' on the keyboard?

Have you tried the Midi 'Thru' socket? Many moons ago I had a KN650, an Em10 Sound Module and PR900 Piano all linked via midi and the KN was linked via the 'Thru' socket and even when the piano was disconnected, it still quite happily played with the Sound Module. I cannot explain why this should be -but suspect it was just luck!

Thank you all for your responses. I've been using Cakewalk and doing computer sequencing since Cakewalk 1.0. I've never encountered a problem like this before. Using the same midi cord, if I plug it into my tyros or my roland sc880 from sonar, I hear everything that I suppose to hear. When I use that same cord and plugg into my kn6500, NOTHING. I tried twiking and playing with all the midi functions in the keyboard....all unsuccessful. Now I'm beginning to think maybe it's the keyboard. Is there a technic user out there that's having this problem? Is there a way around it? Thanks for your reply.
