Thank you Willum & Tony,
I'm glad you mentioned that Willum. I missed that posting about the Kodak card.
I usually check ebay listings as the cards go for far less than I can get them through stores locally.
I also noticed that the Sandisks go for far less than the panasonic cards do, so wondering if the quality of the cards might have something to do with the price difference.

it's not just a question of Kodak, it's a question of multimedia versus SD.

The cheaper cards may well be multimedia which looks identical to SD in web photos but is the older format, thinner, with a pin missing, and probably going obsolete.

These may work with technics or midi files but you will not be able to load digital audio to the card, and thus lose that aspect of KN7000 functionality.

So if making comparisons always be sure to confirm they really are SD cards.

I Have two Sandisk cards and had no problems with them. Thanks for the further enlightenment Alec - definitely something to watch for.

It's worth having a look at www.7dayshop.co

They have the 128MB @ £47.99 plus postage of about £4 or £5

I bought my 32MB from them at it works fine

You can see a enlarged picture of it and it has the same pins as the Panasonic and looks
the same. So simular that it may a sub contractor of Panasonic

Hi,
thank you for the explanation. The Sandisks I'm referring to are definitely SD cards.

Actually I've found a card reader & spare sd card handy for transferring all sorts of files between my laptop and my xp computer.

When I download things off the net to the xp, I used to use an external zip drive to transfer data to the laptop( rather cumbersome unplugging cords & cables as I only have the one zip drive). Now I use the card reader instead. So much easier.

best wishes
Rikki

I wnet on the net and found a company site at www.widget.co.uk and bought a 128mb S.D. card for £37.99 plus tax and postage it all came to £48.13. It is identical to the Panasonic 8mg (same number of pins etc.) and works perfectly. It seems that the 128mg is the best value compared with others sizes as the same firm have a 256mg is at £169.99
plus tax and a 512mg at £249.99 plus tax.

COSTCO in New Mexico has SanDisk 128MB SD cards for $50, same price as Compact Flash cards. This is about the same price office supply stores and CompUSA sometimes advertise as special rebate offers. I just checked on the COSTCO web site and SanDisk cards are not available there.
