Hi Folks,
In the Cakewalk software products there are no Instrument Definitions for the Technics brand. Has anybody built these Instrument Definitions and would be willing to share their file with me? Sure would save me a lot of work!

Now, at the expense of having my stupidity hang out for all the world to see, I have another question. I thought that the Instrument Definitions were generic by specific brand of instrument (Technics, Yamaha, Roland, etc.). You describe them as KN6 definitions. Does that mean that each model (KN6, KN5, PR, etc.)of Technics instrument have it's own specific Instrument Definitions? Can I use the Instrument Definition file that you sent me for my PR702? Help me out again, please.

I've downloaded the instrument definition files for the KN6000. One minor problem I have is that although I tick the box 'Save changes for next session'. Each time I reload the file, I have to select the KN6000 instrument definitions, as it always defaults to Sound Font Device. Once I've done that, the Kn instruments chosen are back as selected. There is a posting on the Cakewalk Forum on this site, but I wondered if any Technics enthusiasts know the answer.

Hi Carol: Yes, each keyboard model (KN5000,KN6000 etc) needs a specific unique Cakewalk instrument definition file (.INS) made for that specific keyboard. The .INS file contains the keyboard's unique instrument names & unique drumkit mapping which enable you to select any of the sounds of your specific keyboard directly from within Cakewalk/Sonar. The KN6000 file will not work with your PR702. You'll need an .INS file created specifically for the PR702. You could contact Cakewalk Music: http://cakewalk.com
to find out if they might already have a PR702 .INS file available. Otherwise, you'll probably have to create your own .INS file from scratch

Although I am not certain, I believe the KN5000 .ins file will work with the PR702. A KN5000 .ins file is available at my KN5000 "How To" pages at item 30.

Hi Bob: Interesting to hear that the KN5000 .INS file will work on the PR702. Does that mean that the PR702 & KN5000 have identical sound names & drum kit mappings? If so, this would be great and save Carol a LOT of work
