as im sure a lot of you know, the Rhodes is coming back out. for those who do not know yet, this is for you.
The Rhodes Electromechanical Piano is coming back. its in 61, 73, and 88 key sizes and from what i've seen/been told its coming in both black and red. not sure what the cover is going to be (flimsy plastic vs. hard flat top vs. metal/plastic keyboard kind of case) but it will be an actual, factual, honest-to-god Rhodes. they're set for release this fall. any ideas on price or weight are welcome! im totally blowing off my next semester of college to get one of these.

I had a play on the new Rhodes at Winter NAMM. I'm not sure of the weight other than they say "lighter" though I don't imagine that means light. I think the price is around US$1500 ( though I'm not sure of the prices of each of the models ). But I did think the weighted action has improved a lot on these new models.

Nigel did you notice whether they're making a stereo Rhodes like the old suitcase? I have one that stays on a job, but kind of miss the other one I had that "went North" several weeks ago.

1500? i might not have to skip college after all. i was thinking closer to 5000$ (like how the older models are going now.) thats truely awesome. i was going to buy an electro primarily for the rhodes sound, but now i [might] be able to pay less for the real thing. not including shipping. :\. and i'll be really happy with a lighter touch. im used to the roland FP-2 for piano, and its like playing air.
