Hi all
Good to see that all in order again...

I just bought me a new digital camera, and of course one who work together with SD-card. Does anyone know what happens if there is Technics files on a card and I put it in my camera? Will I see them or will they be erased, or can I use "big" SD-cards both with Technics files and or camera files?

Hi Lindoz,
mine didn't work together. Once using a (empty/new) card in eighter the kn7 or the camera you have to format that card to use in one of the two. During the format all the data on the card will be overwriten. The camera or the kn7 makes after the formatting their own OS-structure on the card.
I can use the card only with e.g. explorer to put data on the card in a SEPARATE folder. That's no problem. Be aware not to delete or overwrite any data use by the camera/keyboard OS.
Greetings,
Cees

Hello,

With the prototype of the KN-SD-Explorer application that a colleague and I are developing I did following test. On an SD-card of the camera, containing a directory with 4 photos I did a sdb restore, using the Songmanager. The Songmanager told that all data would be erased, but after the restore the photos were still there. And the KN-SD-Explorer tool could nicely manage the Technics songdirectory tree. In a separate posting I will tell more about the tool in detail. We expect in October to have it ready!

According to Alec's "Getting the Most" book:

"If you plug the SD card from a digital camera into the KN7000 you can directly load pictures"

Press PICTURE LOAD
The Directory will show "Digital Camera Images"
Highlight the first picture
Select USER PICTURE 01
TRIM
Press Load
Repeat for futher pictures

So as I understand it, you can format the SD card on your camera, and the KN7000 will read and load those pictures.

I'm not sure if you format an SD Card on your KN7000, that it will work in your camera.

Hi and thanks for your replays. Very much of interesting readings. I found that the best choice is to have KN and camera cards split. Here in Sweden the prices on cards now falling constantly. I bought a 256mb for around 50$ and a 64mb (best for my KN) for 20$. The brand was Kingston and seems to work fine.

Hi Lindoz,

I have been able to use the same SD card in both my Kn7000 and digital camera (a Polaroid PDC3350). The important thing is to format it in only one device. It can then be inserted in the other which should then create the necessary folder(s) for storage of its unique information. It doesn't matter which device is used for the intial format.
I have also used the camera in conjunction with my laptop as a card reader for KN7000 SD cards with the backup and restore functions of Technics Song Manager software.

Cheers
Len C.

Hi Len
I understand that formatting is necessary, but now it seems like the SD:s going down to very nice prices so we can maybe afford a lot of them. I bought a 252Mb card for my camera (Kodak DX6490) and it memories around 220 pics in best quality. Such things made me happy. For the KN I think that 64Mb or maybe 32Mb it´s enough, exept you don´t work with audio files. I have put in about 120 songs on a 64Mb which I use on my giggs and the card is only occupied by 50% of it´s capacity. Even when I have lyrics in the sequencer on about 30 songs.

With our newly developed KN-SD-Explorer tool (http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum25/HTML/002541.html) it is possible to keep pictures and KNdata on one and the same SD-Card.
