Hi again!

Just acquired a kn5000. sounds great. But I have hundreds of songs in kn750 format. I can read all styles with kn5000, but not the sequencer data.

If i would purchase the KN song convert, would it really convert my song files to a kn5000 format, and the songs would play JUST like in kn750?

Does anyone have this program and could answer these questions?

Hi, Sorry, but I think it is hard. I hope dearly for you that somebody else can say that my statement is wrong. When I bought a KN3000 in the past I had to take my KN1000 songs to the retailer shop, load them in a KN2000 and save them in that instraument. Then they were usable tin the KN3000. I have heard that you can only go back one generation. So for example to make KN2000 styles work on the KN5000 you need a KN3000 to convert..

I know this doesn't help much but on the other hand there are so many 5000 styles available on the internet.

Best Regards, Fred

no, the 5000 will load 2000 format files. It is unreasonable to expect the EXACT same result loading old songs on a newer keyboard, otherwise it would not be worth buying a new keyboard with better or different voices. There will always be some re-balancing, the odd sound or drum kit substitution needed etc.

Hi
I have the same problem
I loaded my KN1000 Sequences into KN2000 ,than i saved them on a floppy.
I've tried to load them into KN7000.
The screen says that there is no files on the disc.
Can you, please give me an advice and tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Sincerely
Adam

Can you see any contents on the pc, or do the contents appear scrambled? If scrambled the most common cause is the KN2000 had a DD disk drive so needed feeding 720K floppies. It can use HD, 1.4M, floppies, but these will not then read on modern equipment. If you only have HD disks, format them on the KN2000 and save your files. Tape over the floppy ID hole (not the write protect switch hole, the other side) and try again.

What has always been a mystery to me regarding trying to bring up songs done on a KN1000 in a KN6000/KN7000 is that using the STYLE CONVERT DISK, I can usually bring up things done in COMPOSER but not the SEQUENCER. I am aware that this has been discussed before but what surprises me is that in SEQUENCER, I always see the name of the song and the correct tempo - just nothing in the tracks. Showing the song title and the tempo, it seems that the song should be there.

Maybe the reason is because the disk is labelled style converter so the expectation of song conversion doesn't really fit the evidence? Sequencer reset is effectively another panel memory since with a button push you bring up all the conditions at the beginning of a song. Sequencer reset over-rides panel memory if the song is saved active, otherwise when you load and press Start you could begin the song with the completely wrong conditions if any random panel memory took preference. In the same way that if you convert a style the original tempo comes up in the screen from panel memory, it comes up from panel write, sequencer reset, if that took preference from a saved song. The song title is just a residual by-product from the beginning data block.

... well the tempo can be important, some styles adapt well to half or twice speed use so it doesn't matter too much while others only "click" around their intended figure.
