Hi best forummers,
I thought, also for my own convience , to make a summary of the whishlist of this interesting item Larry posted (Thanks Larry). Reading all those whishes I think that various items should be worth to post as a NEW TOPIC (for those who whish, choose one, please ). So, I guess there is enough feed to discuss a whole hot summer long . But reading all those whishes, I, and I think most of the KN7-owners, are much satisfied with this great keyboard. We make do with this musictoy
Best greetings,
Cees.

SUMMARY OF THE WHISH LIST:
1. DATA-ENTRY: a keyboard & mouse/trackball feature for data-entry (build-in or external connection)
For instance: Pads, Panelmemory, Tempo, composer and soundnaming. All kind of data input, instead of the buttons beneath the display.
2. A MANUAL BASS PART (including a manual bass on/off button)
3. A THIRD RIGHT PART
4. A SECOND LEFT PART
5. TECHNI-CHORD SETTING ON R1 AND R2
Include expanding trio and quartet
6. MUCH LARGER USER MEMORIES
7. A FEW USER-SETTINGS, WHICH PERMANENTLY OVERRIDE THE DEFAULT SETTINGS
For instance: so it is not need for instance to mute and save various settings in every panel memory or all the time
8. A SELECTABLE MULTI-VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY
9. A IMPROVED VOCALIZER AND MICROPHONE SYSTEM
10. A LARGER DISPLAY
Providing more settings to see on display
11. A IMPROVED SD-FEATURE
Quicker operations system and including better software-support. A more efficient data-transfer e.g. for backups.
12. MORE ASSIGNABLE FUCTIONS TO THE FOOT SWITCHES
13. IMPROVED ACCESSABILITY OF THE SD-CARD
It is difficult to remove the SD-card with bigger fingers
14. A CONFIGURABLE RITARDANDO FEATURE FOR ENDING SONGS
15. A LARGER (6-PEDAL) FOOTSWITCH
16. A IMPROVED MUSIC STAND
Better and closer to the player eyes
17. A BETTER INSTRUCTION MANUAL
18. A IMPROVED METHOD TO INSERT PICTURES IN SEQUENCER
19. A IMPROVED EQUALIZER
20. LESS WEIGHT
21. PROVISION TO ADD A SECOND KEYBOARD & MIDI BASS PEDALS
22. IMPROVED ‘RECOGNIZABLE’ BUTTONS WITH DIFFERENT FUCTIONS
Better visable difference between for instance ‘holddown-buttons’
23. VISIBILITY OF THE LAYOUT
The stage lights could reflect on some chrome buttons.
24. INCLUDING CDRW (optional?)
Discussable feature accordingly to the SD-feature
25. I forgot to mention it: much cheaper, please!

Hi Cees,

A great idea. Well done! Compiling all of the keyboard improvement thoughts of our members and friends as you have done makes for a very impressive list. It is clear to me that we have a very intelligent, thoughtful and knowledgeable group. I do hope Technics take all of this on board and gives each suggestion serious consideration. After all, we are their customers! Without us, they wouldn't have a market for their keyboards.

And "thank you", Larry, for being the initiator and driver of this great idea. You are not only a fine musician, but a thinker and doer as well. We are fortunate to have people like you and Cees on this forum.

Goeden Morgen en Tot Ziens, Cees. Take care, Larry

Chuck

If you want nearly all of the features listed above (except SD card and lighter weight) you can easily get them but not in a Technics SX-KN7000.... Its called a Wersi Abacus and it costs a bundle of money but it will do what you want it to. Consider it the Ferrari of arrangers with a price tag to match. Abacus has incredible features, great sounds, more polyphony, and more expandability than any other keyboard on the market today. Most people will never drop the $7K+ necessary to buy one but it does exist if you are so inclined to buy one.

It just isn't feasible for Technics to offer all the features listed above for less money than the current KN7000. Sure we can dream but that dream isn't likely to be realized for quite some years at a bargain price. For now the Wersi seems to be the only option if you must have all those features.

Hi all

Better too late then never they say, so even if this tread is a
summary of the whishlist I'll jump on board.

One of my dreams regarding future keyboards have for a long time
now been that we could get a new layout of the instrument itself.
Many good ideas already mentioned in this wishlist already, but
what if the "chassis" was as good as i.e.:
- 76 keys of good quality.
- Powerunit, amplifire and speakers good enough for future use.
- Pitchbend and modulationwheels and usual stuff mounted, and
equipment as harddrives of common standard etc, etc, in it.
- Space for a module containing screen and buttons as a "middle
section of the keyboard.

Then it was not nessesary to swap all keyboard, but only a module
containing the "breaking news" to swap, and WOIALA!!
This would also have taken care of the weight who so many thinks
are growing to heavy, you could carry it around in two pieces....
The different modules could have been of different models and
prices, so there would have been a aftermaket too.
If we look at i.e. Ketron SD1 and the SD3 module, you'll see a
kind of picture of how close this is to what I mean.
Oh well, the manufacturers have to earn money, so I guess it's not
any good idea at all, if so we probably would have seen it by now,
