I have to say that I'm not quite sure, but maybe a e-mail to Klauss at EMC would clarify if it's different type of headings in the files we're talking about, and thats why they wont load. To export into midifiles if KN750 are as KN800, is not easy at all, specially cause it's not GM compatible and the drums are not numbered as far as I know. But again, I'm not any expert, probably some other of the members here who know a lot more about it. Good Luck & Happy Playing GJ [This message has been edited by Gunnar Jonny (edited 04-09-2006).]

Hi Jonny, I think you are correct, the drums are going to cause real problems. I used to midi either my kn2000 or kn3000 ( can't remember which, but it wasn't gm compatible) to my roland g800. The drums were a real problem. I think I did have a drum map though. I used to convert the drums manually in one of my old atari sequencer programs. Tedious job. If the kn750 songs can be recorded to a sequencer as a midifile, there's a program called GN midi. One of the functions literally splits a drum track up into seperate tracks, 1 track per each type of drum instrument ie bass drums has it's own track, hihat etc etc then it would just be a case of transposing each of these drum tracks into the correct instrument. You'd need a p.c. sequencer. A bit hit & miss if you don't know the kn750 drum mapping. I think there's a demo you can download & use for 5 days. http://www.gnmidi.com/ best wishes Rikki http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/makingstyles/ [QUOTE]Originally posted by Gunnar Jonny: [B] Maybe you can transfer from KN750 to G800 via Midi-connection, but you'll have quite a challenge to program the drums as long as the KN750 is not GM compatible, and drums are not numbered. But maybe I'm totally wrong, so come'on guys, anyone done this? GJ

Hi Rikki Correct me if I'm wrong, but KN2000 was GM compatible I think, KN1000 was the last who was not? Anyway, to convert a sequensed song to a GM file was/is still quite a job to do, even if the KN's are "GM-compatible". I've always wondered why Technics had to do it that way, cause it sure would be nice to save as GM-midifile to playback from other devices, such as i.e. a soundmodule or stright from the PC. Happy Playing GJ

Maybe this will answer some of your questions: http://www.cakewalk.com/support/docs/sysx.asp Again, as long as the saved sequenserfiles you have from your KN750 don't have the drums as GM, you have to remap the drums, and that's something I'm not familiar to. You can i.e. transfer the tracks from KN to G8 by midiconnection when your equipment is proper set, but you will not manage to transfer the drumtrack properly, if transfer at all. But here is an older posts from the forum where similiar topic is dicussed, maybe it is for any help: http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum25/HTML/000649.html Cheers GJ

Hi, if you can record your KN song to a p.c sequencer do it. Hopefully the KN750 actually sends drum tracks as notes. (The KN800 only sent program changes or sys ex data, not the actual notes) Once you've got your midifile , use GN Midi to break up the drum track. You'll end up with 10 to 20 individual drum tracks , with only one type of drum instrument per track. Save the midifile as format 1 (not 0) You should have drum maps of your g800 in the back of the manual. Does your kn750 have drum maps in the manual? If not, you're going to have to try and work it out yourself, which can be very difficult. If you have drum maps for both instruments, it'simply a case of transposing each of the drum tracks to the correct g800 drum instrument. Just say bass drum in KN is an a2 note and bass drum in g800 is a c1 note, all you do is transpose the a2 drum track down to a c1 drum track. You'll have to do this with each of the tracks. best wishes Rikki It's an awful lot of work. Originally posted by blackmoor: Ok... Now, what does sys-ex dump mean? I have that function in my technics? Could I somehow transfer the song to the computer by using that function? And then use the gn-midi to adjust drum track, and then save it to a general midifile and then save the song to a disk and use it in roland g800?
Or should i just connect my technics to computer, record the midi data what technics sends when it plays the song and transfer that to a GM song?
