Hi

I have a pr54 which I love and is what I want for my main keyboard, since I just play for my own enjoyment. I would like to get something technics that is portable, of course I would like to get a kn7000 but just don't want to spend that kind of cash right now. One of the local dealers recomended the kn2400 but I thought I would see what people here have to say. Since I am use to the sounds and settings on the pr 54 I don't want to change brands

The KN5000 is good and so is the 6000 though i'd recommend the KN2000 if you're looking at a lower cost end

I feel that the KN2600 would be your best bet. It has nearly everything the kn7000 has that you would want to use including usb and SC cards. It is light weighing only 26 pounds yet has a built in sound system that is very good and adequate for most use.
If you feel you must have a floppy drive then the KN2400 has that and the KN2600 does not, nor does it need it in my opinion
IMHO.
You could pick up a KN2600 used for around 700.00 USD plus freight, maybe less if you shop enough, well less then half the cost of a KN7000.

I agree with Bebop. I have the 7000 and 2600. The 2600 is much like the 7000 without the floppy drive and custom. Using your computer, you do not need the floppy drive.

If you find the 2600/computer software that comes with the 2600 not to your liking, Freds KN 7000 Explorer tool makes it simple to manage floppy and SD cards.

Thanks for the input, here is the problem:

I could never get the drivers to work for my pr54, I run windows xp service pack 2. The local tech siad panisonic never made drivers for xp sp2, I tried everything but it will not reconize the pr54 , I have tried all the suggestions found on the web.(is there a setting on the pr54 that needs to be changed?)with out the floppy drive I would not have been able to import or save stuff. I run the pr through my computer using the midi and the aux out jacks, so i can still record.

Will I have the same driver problem with the 2600?

Have you been to Bill Norries site and followed his instructions for loading the driver?

Hi,

I have run Windows XP with SP2. With that OS our tool KN-SDExplorer still works fine; it is fully WinXP compatible, incl. SP2.

you can read all about it. I recommend that you also read the tutorial, where you can see how you can very easy transfer Technics Songs from Floppy's to an SD-Card via a Card-reader on the PC. You can of course move all you technics songs and styles from your PC (diskette or hard disk) to the SD-Card. So you won't have a diskette station on your keyboard. I seldom use my disketter drive in the KN7000, especially since we developed our tool; of course I was the first user of the tool (LOL).
