Hi..still undecided here. The mofif es6 are hard to get with the new model that came out.

Now it is between the TR61 (which I had some probelms with) or the Yamaha MO6.
Does the MO use the motif engine?

Thanks ,Mav

Yes. Here are the specs: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Y...trol?sku=701598

I think it is closer to the Motif ES though. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan04/articles/yamahamotifes.htm
Some cutbacks were made. The MO has less polyphony )64 instead of 128), less insert effect slots (3 instead of 8). Tone architecture wise all Motifs/ MOs are almost identical. Its stuff like memory and FX that really make the difference.

cheers,

Thanks for your help. Yes, the TR61 has some wierd vibrato in it that is inconsistant...so not sure if I should buy another one.

I have no exp. with the MO6..I do like the es6, but pricy. The MO has some nice sounds but they are not exactly the same as the es6.

Thanks for your help & advice as always,
Mav

Ah, vibrato is going to be the same on any workstation. It isn't really the vibrato. Nowadays the mod wheel is assigned to all kinds of things and not just vibrato. Quite normal. Quite easy to change as well. On any synth.

On MOtif/MO synths vibrato should be assigned to aftertouch. For most sounds that need vibrato anyway. The mod wheel does all kinds of things. controlling filter cutoff, FX etc.

When you get the MO take a look at the manual. Just so if you do come across presets that don't even have vibrato you'll know what to do. It's not rocket science.

cheers,

Hi, If you're after the Motif sounds and not so much the MO6's functionality (intergrated sequencer/sampler) take a look at a motif classic rack, not the ES rack. I picked up a classic Mo rack just to have those excellent sounds without having to lug my ES7 around. Just a thought...

Peace
