I know many of you have make extensive use of MIDI sequences as backing tracks. I have a 64 meg SD card I am thinking of dedicating to MIDI files. I have 200 or so on my laptop arranged on my Yamaha SQ softsynth playlists. They are arranged by era (20.s,BB,etc). I have songs from Alex,Frank, and Bill Norrie on another SD.
First question: If I put them on SD, I probably get better quality of sound but I have to play them in the same key they are written in. I can, of course, tranpose to another key, but that does help when a sequence is done in B MAJ and I know the song in Eb eg.. If I use my laptop I can adjust my 7000 to play in any key I want. Am I wrong ?
Second: As of now I use mostly 7000 panel memory banks stored on SD's and use MIDI only to supplement. I rarely do dances (yet), and if I did, I would arrange tunes by era and beat and tempo. Once I put tunes on my SD, what is the best way to organize them, and change the order ?
I have a card reader, but have not tried the SD tool of Cees and Rikki's structure. I am just venturing forth and don't know exactly which path to follow.
This is probably clear as mud, but at this point, so is my mind.
Thanks
Bernie.

Thank you, Mike. This was a major hurdle, and the answer was so simple.

I loaded an SD SOUND sequence from the card, went to sequencer/range edit/transpose/all and brought the key up to my key. I then saved it back to the slot where it was. I reloaded and the melody was correct, but,the accomp was not. What happened?

Thank you, Alec. When your book and video arrives I may not have to ask so many elemental questions.
