I have the KN6500 and I plan to keep it, but I am thinking about adding a piano keyboard to it. I have seen in catalogs piano keyboards with 88 keys but other than that, there really are no other features. It also has the feel of a piano when you press the keys. Is this a keyboard that would be used as an add on to another keyboard? Can you use this keyboard by itself, with an amplyfier?

quite a few people midi up a P50 to their 6500s or 7000s using the piano for playing or lead voice and the KN for accompaniment.

Is the P50 a Technics product? Is there a picture of it on a web page? Who sells this P50? Thanks.

I believe the SX-P50 was a Technics Piano but I don't think that it is available anymore. I think it was replaced by the current P54 model which I have. It's the lowest priced Technic Piano unless you find one used. It's very compatible with the KN6500 except that the songs recorded on it will not play on the 6500 because it was one of the newest models before Technics quit making instruments. But it plays KN6500 and KN7000 disks.

It also cost more than the KN7K.

P50 is a lightweight stage piano with 88 notes and weighted action. http://www.technicspianos.com/p50.html
Roland and Yamaha have similar models for transportable stage use for players who want piano feel keys.

Several people in the General Arranger forum here in the SynthZone advise they have purchased the Casio W or WK 3000 or 3500 to midi to their main keyboards. You might want to check that out. They are very inexpensive.
Just go to the General Arranger forum and ask your question there also

Casio are cheap and that's it. Nobody seriously interested in piano action would ever consider buying one of those. The samples are useless next to the 7000 too.

The P50 is such a good portable piano, that it was the only model that Technics did not discount when they announced that they were quitting. I would have bought 50 of them if they would have given a good discount!

yes it was a great piano action and sound, and was very popular midied up to 6500s and 7000s.
