Hi All,
When I use a rhythm while playing a song, I have never been able to record it in any of my Cakewalk software. Is it because I have been using "Easy Record" in the past and it is not capable of sending the data? After the little experience I have had with "Real Time" recording, I don't think that will send the data either. Is it only possible when you use the "Composer" function and assign each part of the rhythm to a track?

This I have not done any much since I had the
KN3000, and I think I managed to do a couple
before I gave it up.
Hopefully the next KN will save sequenser to
standard midi files just as most other kb's.

Here is a few links who might be for some help:

Happy playing

Hi Carol
You need to use apc to smf convert. See posting Technics to Midi on this site for details of this and other ways

I assume that you are referring to the answer I gave at that particular topic. Thankyou for the credit.

in fact you don't need apc to smf at all.

just assign midi channels to the accomp parts in part setting.

Hi All,
Thanks for the responses. Technicsplayer, I will try what you suggested, however it may take me awhile -- seem to have that virus that is going around and not too peppy right now.

Carol, I believe you've mentioned in the past that you have a PR702. I have a PR902 and I have been able to send out midi data from APC by setting the APC tracks to midi channels as Technicsplayer has suggested. There is a very easy way to do this on your PR702:

>Program Menu
>Midi
>Presets
>Presets/Page 2 (page 2 is for sending midi)
>Select 'With APC' (without APC=default)
>Select '>Ext. Sequencer'
>Select 'OK' and Exit

You can verify that the APC part numbers have all been re-assigned by checking under the same 'Midi' menu and selecting 'Part' instead of 'Presets'. Scroll down a couple pages in the 'Part' listing and you will find that the the APC parts have been automatically assigned to an output track (normally they are not assigned to any track). The unfortunate thing is that it is not possible to simply capture midi data from APC to a file on the Technics itself. You have to output it to an external sequencer to record it.

Hi Rob,
Thank you for the more detailed information on how to do this. It really helps to have it spelled out when a person is relatively new at doing these functions -- especially when a person is pretty low on the learning curve and just the terminology makes you stop and think "what do you really mean"! And, yes, your memory is great. I do have the 702.

Hi Carol,

Perhaps you can help me out as well. I would be very interested to know how easy it is to sequence with Cakewalk and your PR702. I'm considering options for some computer-based sequencing software. Many thanks.

Hi Rob,
Email will be on your way. Way too long to post on the forum.
