I still have a KN800 floating around the studio somewhere and it is still like brand new after a lot of years use. It was built like a tank. If you do get one, I have a lot of software I could dig up for you. Stay in touch, Welcome to the forum, Bebop

HI BAM, YOu need a floppy to load software into the KN800. You have jogged my memorey and I do remmeber that it was an option, and an expensive one at that. The disk drive is special for Technics only. Are you in the US. I could sell you my KN800 with all the software and songs. It does Midi also after I had a special Rom burned and installed in it three different times. I also have a Technics KN6000 that I could sell and also a Yam PSR9000. I am in California. Bill

As far as I know, the KN800 was never general midi, so I don't think you can play midi files? GJ

The midi that the KN800 will do is to play other keyboards and racks from the KN800 master and record to Floppy, play back from floppy in the KN800 again using instruments from the rack modules or other keyboards. Bebop
But is'nt the Midi Communication just the same as any other keyboards with midi sockets, but without GM it's pretty limited if you can't play any midi files properly? GJ
