Thanks for posting that DutchPlayer. Great ! BUT what about the music stand? It has already been said that it fits on the back of the keyboard but the ledge on which the music sits is going to have to be well above the base of the unit, otherwise the lift-up panel will obscure the lower area of the sheet. This may put the sheet music in such a position that it is uncomfortable to look at. On an earlier keyboard which I had, (Yamaha 6100), which had a similar lift-up panel, a 'Flip-up' music stand was actually built-in to the top of the lift-up panel, when it was open, which put it in a very awkward position. Personally, it doesn't bother me since I don't use music. We shall have to wait and see.....

Question for Alec ..... I realize that in the photo shown in the link above the keyboard is at an angle, but what angle is the panel at relative to the kb ... is it about the same as the kn6 ? ... is it about the same to navigate the panel during live playing?

It looks nice and "hi-tech" ... but I'm not sure I like it for practical reasons. I like how now, the controls that are used alot while playing (fill ins, start/stop, variations, presets panel memories) are all really close at hand. On the KN-6x00 these controls are less than an inch (~2cm) away, easy to get at them mid-song.
On the 7000, all that space just above/behind the keyboard, is just blank space! I'd like to have seen all the often-used controls in that space. ???
Don't worry, it's likely so hightech that we don't have to play it ourselves, and if it's possible to do it, you probably only have to think about what to do, and it's done. GJ
Btw, I'm very surpriced about that it is the German sites, and also that it is Mr.Music who is the first to show this picture. It's strange, and I wonder why......

yes the panel is more or less at the same angle as the 6500 panel.
And though no music stand was used there are mouldings for a music stand just like the other boards. Presumably this is angled to be visible with the panel fully upright as on the other boards.
Good point about the buttons, for me the 5000 panel memories were a little too far away, with the 6000 just right for live playing. The panel mems here are all new.
We shall have to see how it is practically. I watched the demo carefully several times and the changes seemed easy, but then with a good player everything seems easy!
Unfortunately the photo does not show the interesting panel lighting effect.

I'm hoping the panel memories are called up with a number pad (0-9) and "Enter key" ... so that they could have perhaps 1000 panel memories (000 thru 999), like the new WERSI has!
Also looks like the keyboard itself is "indented" (sunken in) to the case a bit... an unusual, unique look!
Really curious to someday see that Star Trek lighting effect?!

Yes the picture is gone. I tolled about the picture on technote and they removed my message. We are not allowed to see a picture off the kn7000 ....it is top secret. I copied the picture to my harddisk. They can't take this away. Greetings, Alain

Hey Tony! Yeah, you're RIGHT. Connections to my webpage spiked up astronomically in a matter of a few minutes, and quickly overloaded the bandwidth limitation. Try again in a couple of hours.
My post St Patricks gig last nite went well. In addition to the pre-requisite medley of Irish tunes which included Danny Boy and Harrigan, I also performed & sang Amore and Volare to commerate St. Joseph' Day. The Italian American's in the audience were unexpectantly surprised and VERY appreciative. Remembering these kind of things can really make a difference and insures a loyal following. Now I got to checkout 'zeppole' and St Joseph's Pasta. Sounds yummy. - Scott

Scott.... glad it went well .... 'zeppole' is a pastry generally filled with a sweet ricotta cheese mix, with little choc chips... great taste, fatter waist .. in New England it is also made with a 'custard' type filling ... not nearly as good to my taste ... the BEST in the WORLD come out of "Buono's", a little bakery shop in Staten Island NY (my hometown) ... the line is well out the door .... St Joseph's pasta has a rather unique taste, which I have not acquired, and considering all the things I DO like, don't need to .... t.
AAArrrgggghhhh, Start to read this thread....quickly rush off to the first link to no avail Read the rest of the thread properly. and then rush off to Scotts site. Full of anticipation. Can't get in...aarrrggghh. Am at this very moment chewing my desk leg with frustration. The dog is upset because it is usually her job to chew the desk leg. My partner is foaming at the mouth because I should be making dinner. I just keep shouting "Who can eat at a time like this?" UPDATE The dog is packing her bowl and balls into her doggy suitcase and is threatening to leave, My partner has fainted with hunger. I have splinters in my lips. Over-react.... moi? ...Mais non! All the best Tony

Scott,
I'd recommend putting the KN7000 picture on a separate page if you can, I think the bandwidth limitation is being exceeded because of all the other excellent but large images you also have on your pictures page. People are downloading these along with the KN7000 image!
Frankly, I think all this secrecy and tantalising is completely over the top from Technics. If I understand timings correctly we won't be able to buy the KN7000 until October. Are we really going to have to put up with this for the next 6 months?
If we were one or two months away from availability I would say fair game but "launching" a product 6 months out and then restricting access to pictures and the full spec is cheap and does nothing to enhance Technics corporate image in my eyes.
I want to know what the machine can do and how it sounds as much as everyone else but I predict we will all be very weary by the time we can actually get hold of it!

Hi Peter,
So you are saying that the bandwidth was exceeded ONLY because of all other pics on the SAME page, not because of the number of hits to my website?
Because I really can't afford to have my website inoperable and in-assessible (as it seems to be now, even by me), I decided to REMOVE the pic from my website altogether. Perhaps someone else here can post it on their webpage. If you need a copy of the pic, please email me. - Scott

Thank you Walt for this fine demonstration of public service in making your site available for the pictures and the text of the new Kn7000. I have mailed a pointer to your website to all the addresses signed up for the Technics Forum Newsletter as many of these people only log on the forum occasionally. We do appreciate your generosity. BEBOP
Are there maybe more people that have taken pictures of the KN7000 ? (maybe from a closer point of view ?). Please let us know ! From the current available picture, it's very difficult to see what buttons are located on the left and right side of the keyboard panel.
