Thanks for the information regarding Artie Shaw. Thanks also for pointing me to the website where I can hear "The Greats" of the big band era. I had to install some software in order to hear the music on the site. I'm up and running now and will spend many happy hours listening to Shaw, Shearing, Hampton et al. My music teacher has me working on "Lullaby of Birdland" in addition to some other music. It and the music on the website fits my taste in music perfectly!
