These products look very interesting and am wondering if incoming MIDI messages can be split and remapped to different MIDI channels on the way out.
For example I play my ES7 in song mode just to access the 16 part multi-timbral feature. I turn local off. Play just part one, transmitting on channel one.
Run MIDI out of ES7 to MIDI IN of Kenton Control Freak. Could I set the 16 channels comgin into the Control Freak to receive on channel 1? Then program each of the 8 buttons to when off, send no midi at all? When on each button send or rather transmit to it's corresponding button number (ie Button 1 transmits on channel 1, button two transmits on channel 2, button three transmits on channel 3, etc)?
I would then run MIDI out of the Control Freak back to the MIDI in on my ES7.
This would turn my ES7 into an awesome live machine. I could set up a template with my favorite 8 sounds in parts 1 thru 8 (who cares about 9-16, 8's enough for me, for now).
Set this Control Freak on top of my ES7 on the left side (right hand is free to play). Then at the tap of these buttons on the control freal I could layer in and out and of my voices in parts 1-8. With 128 polyphony I should be able to layer as many as 3 or 4 sounds at once with no real loss.
So, anybody out here using or have used this Kenton Control Freak?

Peace
Bob
