At Wall*Mart in Yuma, AZ yesterday I bought a 128mb SD for $14.96....

I am out on the desert just west of Yuma....on BLM land with friends who have a mobile Wi-Fi Sat dish that allows each of us to enjoy Wireless access to the Internet.... (BLM= Bureau of Land Management...a Federal Government Bureau....to manage public lands).

Todays Fry AD has a 256 MG SD card for 9.99 USD after a 15.00 rebate. I cant make out the name of the manufacturer. My eyes are too small
Looks like at this rate, another week and they should be giving them away

I did get a 64Meg card free a couple of weeks ago at Office Max. It was $10 with a $10 rebate. BUT, I have been using high speed cards for several months, and this card's access time is so slow that I'll probably never use it. I prefer to pay the extra price to get faster cards, especially when doing backups.

Bob,

Seldom see transfer rates in advertisments.
Tried to find out about SanDisk at their site. Extreme lists 9MB/sec, Ultra 9MB/sec and the standard SD, lists only,Fast transfer rate.

Could be they are unloading their standard slow cards to sell the newer high speed.

Does anyone know the transfer rate of the standard SanDisk SD card or a site that shows speed comparisons of all SD cards? Would be helpful in making purchases.

Hi All,

Personally I use Apacer SD Cards, which have specifications:

read: 3MB/s, write 2MB/s.

My performance speed benchmarking (Verify time and restore timeof a 128MB card by our KN-SDExplorer tool) showed better performance than at a beta tester. It appeared that the speed of the reader is more important: be sure to use an USB2.0 reader. With USB 1.1 the fastest Card still has lousy performance.
