Interesting Bill. Is this is a sign that the 1GB cards are being discontinued? I have always found Sandisk SD cards to be reliable when using the SD Audio facility and have successfully used their 2GB standard SD cards. Also I recently tried a micro SD card with adapter and that was OK too.

Be careful..there are people selling fake SanDisk..I recently purchased a 1 gig on line[compact flash] , and it was counterfeit..a blank at that...

The faster reading cards are coming down in price and soon the standard SD will be obsolete.

Has anyone tried the new fast reading cards in the 7000 and has it made a difference in the read (load) time?

I read that it was limited to the speed of the KN7000, and it didn't make a noticable difference. I haven't tried it personally.

the 7k was designed in the days of SD specification 1.0 so today's faster cards will not improve keyboard performance since this is limited internally by the hardware configuration. Likewise for audio they will be limited by the usb1 Panasonic card reader and show insignificant difference, however the built in SD slots of my various Toshiba laptops have worked for transferring audio, and at much faster rates than the Panasonic card reader with faster cards. For technics and midi data pc transfer faster cards will work provided you use a fast compatible usb2 card reader (there is a huge spread between speeds of usb2 card readers, slow ones ~3MB/s, the fastest ~19 MB/s).
Compatible 2GB cards can be successfully formatted and used for audio in Jukebox, but will show an incorrect % space in the 7k, but all the GB can be read and used in the keyboard. However a 2GB card will format as 1GB in the 7k and you will have to low level delete the partition to restore it to 2GB, a windows full format will just format the 1st 1GB partition again, leaving 1 GB unallocated and unusable.

SDHC cards (4GB plus) are out for the 7K since they use a new memory mapping configuration (and will not work with SD card readers), but transflash (micro SD) and mini SD are perfectly useable since fully comply with the SD specification and the SD carrier they slot into is just a contact transfer housing. I've used a 512 mini SD for years as a working card in the 7k since could swap it (without carrier) to a previous mobile phone at the time.

If anyone is interested, Staples are selling standard Sandisk 1GB Cards for £9.99 and I have seen them elsewhere at a 'Sale Price' of £7.99 and the 2GB for as little as £12.99 (Sale Price).
