Hi all,

Is there a tutorial for dummys, out there, that shows how to set-up the MIDI pages on the KN7K and then for Cubase. Plus the Instrument Def's for the KN7K?
I have the Audio recorder working, but wish to see my efforts displayed on the Staff graphic of Cubase, if that is possible.
Regards JohnT

Hi John
Saving midis to SD Card is the same as saving registrations to SD Card - you just name them and save them to whatever part (1-20) of whatever folder (1-99) you wish...if that's what you mean by setting up midi pages on the 7k. Probably not I suspect...

Hi John

I have been playing around with the KN7000 and Cubase Studio 4 for a few months and its not quite that straight forward, not sure if its the Panasonic midi driver.

I do have a KN7K instrument definition script I found on the internet and a Standard Drum Map I produced myself, if you look in the blue reference guide there are more drums available below the Bass drum key which shows up on the drum map. I'll post both of them to your email address in your profile.

As far as I know there are two ways to get your performance to show up as notation in the Score part of Cubase, if its just one track record it into Cubase and then select the Score editor (Page Mode is best)or save the performance as a midi file in the KN and then just import this into cubase. To see the Auto Accompaniment you will have to change the channel settings in the KN under Midi/Part Settings and turn the other parts off, also in this case the APC will only record onto one track in Cubase, you will then have to use 'Dissolve' in the Midi menu to separate out the tracks to their relevent channel numbers.

If you need any more help send me an email (address in my profile) and I'm sure between us we can solve some of the problems.

Glen

Hi folks,
Thanks for the response.
Your assumption was correct Roger, it was not saving to SD card I was asking - albeit the info supplied will be filed away for future ref, alongside with all the help you have given to date. Thanks.
For Glen, thanks for the informative EMail and I will be in touch over the weekend, too busy in the week, long working hours etc. But wonder if the fact I cannot establish any communication between Cubase and the KN, is due to your comment "Important – Always turn the KN7000 on before Cubase otherwise the Panasonic USB Midi Out driver will not be loaded."
Its the multiplicity of options on the MIDI pages of the KN which are leaving me totally confused, but as you say a little correspondence may solve all of that.

Many Regards JohnT
