Let’s step into a place where the Kn7000 really shines. Although I have posted this in past I feel this is another good opportunity.

Bands do not all sound the same, they are put together with a purpose.
Types of bands:
1-Big Band
A-Ballads like Misty.
B-Medium tempos like Satin Doll.
C-Strong like In the Mood.
2-Latin Band:
A-Soft Bosa Novas like Meditation.
B-Rumba like Spanish Eyes
C-Samba
One of my favorites
3-Strimg Orchestra
A-One for light selections
B-For Full string Orchestra
Important and needed.
4-Full piano performance -- Nothing but Drums, Bass and left and right hand piano. Was called for audition at a fine country club They said no because they were looking for a piano player. I asked them for one night, they agreed. I turned my Technics keyboard into a piano. The instruments in the style were changed to different type of pianos – the bass was always set to Acoustic contained and the drum to Brush. I played there for several years. Your keyboard is capable of doing do so much more, it is only limited by our imagine.
The 13 banks are filled with different Bands/Orchestras. Big Band A,B, C, three separate banks use different instruments at different volumes. Example A soft trumpet for a “Ballad Band”. -- a stronger sharper trumpet for a ”Medium Band” – and a full body trumpet for “Strong Big Band”.

Use your imagine and create the type of Band/Orchestra the style demands.
Panel memory is set to “Normal”. You select the style and the you eight memory Band/Orchestra to match. With this set up I use only the Style presets and the Custom 20, and the Composer memory. The Music Style Arranger is turn off, I want only my changes. In this I get the right instrument (my opinion) in the right tempo, at the right volume for each instrument with the right balance. When a solo trumpet is playing and then a sax section is playing the band changes the color. Some instrument stop playing and some start -- all set up for the soloist to be up front.

These are examples – there are many more possibilities. I hope this sets you on fire – go beyond what I have done.
I hope this of use.

My next post will deal with using the Sound Arranger.

John C.

Thanks John. I'm sure that system works well for you. I used a similar system when I had the old KN5000 because it took so long to load files from disk. In those days I would try to load everything including all panel memories and custom memory and try to avoid loading from disk for an hour or so.

With the KN7000, the SD card made things so very fast and easy that I now prefer to load from SD card for every song. This gives almost unlimited setup possibilities with 24 different panel memories that I can use if I wish for each song. I can have 24 unique and dedicated rhythm and voicing changes designed for the specific song if I wish. And, it can be done with a single SD load that takes about two to five seconds. You can set up the complete keyboard and play the next song with no pauses longer than you would expect if you played a CD.

Thanks John
Although I use the SD card like Bob and Rog, I don't have different band types. The point being, if I had these different bands, I could more readily save them for song specific reg's on the SD. I don't know if i'm a good enough arranger to properly assemble these types, however.

Good stuff John

Bernie, I use the bands when I am playing just the styles in the keyboard so that I am not limited the Music Style Arranger. (Four instruments)

There nothing like playing a song like Unforgettable and having a soft band with 8 memory locations. A sweet soft trumpet – a mellow piano, ect. Or turning to the lord’s Prayer and having a string orchestra waiting. No loading or searching, ready to go.

The best part is that I keep upgrading the bands so they get better and better, the trumpet I used last year is not the same. For live playing it gives me the freedom to match the song with the right band.

Bernie, my Kn7000 set up with the bands has been shared in this forum, if you can get it you will no work to do.

Isn’t music great, take care, John C.

Hello All,

I couldn't agree with your comments more.
You might like to look at my reply reply to Fred Mellincks post. You will then perhaps being to understand my frustration with the T3 in comparison with the KN7 which you all know about, so I wont go there.
