The KN2600 interests me because of it being much lighter for gigs than taking the KN7000. I am assuming that the KN2600 is the best keyboard the company made under the KN7000 – right? Can all the work created in the KN7000 that is on SD card be loaded into the KN2600? This would also include any custom memory sounds. Out of curiosity, does the KN2600 take the four expansion boards, as does the KN7000? Finally, what is the REAL difference between the keyboards? Thanks.

Yes to most everything you've asked but the sound quality is poorer IMO almost tinny by comparison...
Not sure about the expansion boards, and also you can't produce work in the KN2600 and transfer it to the KN7000 only the other way round as you have asked...

I bought a KN2600 as a back up for my KN7000. There are so many differences between the KN7000 and KN2600 it would be very difficult to list them all here. Some differences are:

The 2600 has 64 note polyphony vice 128 for the 7000. The 2600 does not have custom style memory nor panel memory banks 1 through 10. It only has banks A, B, and C. You would not miss custom memory nor the panel memories if you use the SD card to set up for each song as most people do. The 2600 only has a jack for a single foot switch and an expression pedal vice six foot switches for the KN7000. There is no floppy disk drive with the 2600. The 2600 has fewer styles and sounds. The 2600 display is very difficult for me to see. The 2600 sound system is much inferior to the 7000. These things quickly come to my mind. There are many other differences.

Although the SD card from the KN7000 works with the KN2600, my song setups must be edited for the 2600 because the sounds available are not always compatible.

Thanks Rog and Bob. Wow! No KN2600 for me! I didn't think it was such an inferior keyboard in comparison to the KN7000. I assumed the speaker system wouldn't be as good and perhaps a few other minor things would not be included. To not have the Panel Memories 1- 10 is enough to run away from this puppy. Having to adjust sounds because of no custom memory and the other things you have said, Bob - forget it! I see one listed on eBay for $985. with a buy it now and thought it a good price. I wouldn't have it at any price, now.

Thanks, again to both of you.

Mark, although you are right about the 2600 being much inferior, I don't want to mislead you. It does have custom sound memory. It does not have custom style memory. You don't really need panel memory banks 1 thru 10 nor custom style memory if you use the SD card the way it was designed to be used. Sound edits are different so sounds are not the same with the two keyboards. Once a style has been edited for the 2600, it is OK. BUT, the limit of polyphony is a big issue for me, as is the limit of foot switches.

Thanks, Bob. I forgot to mention the importance of only 64 polyphony - a real drawback and the foot switch limit. I made a transposition with amount. It is actually on eBay for $895. Still not tempting.
