For "The Panel",
Will any foot switch operate through the foot switch plug, or must it be Technics compatable?
I have seen a lot advertised to suit Casio,Yamaha, Roland, etc.combined, and wonder if it can be done on Technics?
I have a Technics 4 pedal board, but it is very very sensitive when playing, and a single pedal would be a lot easier to operate in my playing.
Your advice will be invaluable as usual.
Ray

Hi Ray,

The basic answer is Yes - any footswitch will do - however, there is one condition. The switch must be a 'Break on Operation' type i.e. in the unoperated condition, there must be a short circuit across the Jack Plug. When the footswitch is depressed, the short circuit should be removed.

Some manufacturer's switches operate in this manner but others operate in reverse. I don't have a list of 'who's does what' but from experience, most of these footswitches incorporate a 'changeover' switch which allows you to rewire the contacts if necessary.......

One other thing - the footswitch should be of the non-latching type......

I use these. http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOSP2

They have a polarity switch that allows them to be used with most keyboards.

Hello Ray,

I sometimes use the 'bespeco' footpedal which connects into the same socket as used by the Technics pedal. You may have to change the Polarity but if you save it to the 'Foot Controller' your command will be remembered.

I bought it from The Music People and if you go to their website (address below) you will see lots of music products they have for sale, including this foot pedal.

or

Phone: 0118 988 7444

Their service is excellent.

Audrey

That is one nice pedal unit - £20 in UK (US$30.24) Usual UK ripoff
The polarity switch is a great idea too! That would be the one Ray if you can find one in Oz.......

Thank you all for your responses.Obviously this is over Rogers' head.
I have taken the plunge on e-bay via Hong Kong for A$20.47 post free. (Yeeaahh! I know it's cheap), but that's me all over.It says polarity can be set by a "mine slip switch".
Is it possible it might explode?????
I like the look of the metal pedal, same as my PR903 piano, which is available here, but I think they are all sustain pedals, and not switching type. but I could be wrong. Nah! not me.You people on the top side are very fortunate with the access you have to so many outlets for gear and products, but I like our climate better. Can't have it all I suppose.
Thanks for your help.I will let you know the results when I get it.

Incidentally, it looks identical to the "Cherub" at The Music People.
