Enjoying my new S-80...this is better than sex...well, almost. I'm still a MIDI newbie but I've actually got it hooked up properly to my PC and I'm sequencing a bit. Look Mom...multi-tracks and everything ! But I have no idea how to do much more than this - with all the performance features and the harmonizer and on and on. And the manual is new-to-MIDI UNfriendly. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Anybody else in this area that knows a bit about this new synth ? Any websites or forums about the S-80 yet ?

Enjoy your new S80...
I'm not near you (i'm in Europe) but i post this message just to say to you that've got one of the best synth around.
I bought one a month ago and i use it as my master keyboard and as MIDI piano sound source (i have PF board).
I have a lot of midi gear but this (S80) won my heart.

I also just got me a S-80. I really love this machine. Not mainly because of the sounds, but I just love the keyboardaction and the wonderful piano-feeling. I've played a lot on Roland A-90... This is one more step forward!

I bought one last December and it has become my favorite "piano" type synthesizer. I also have the PF plug-in board which provides some varieties of piano/EP sounds. I still like its stock panel sounds better.

Check out www.yamahas80.com. Mark did a great job putting together this site. There are instructions for subscribing to a s80 mailing list there. Mark and others have managed to get additional voice sets, faqs, and other documents directly from Yamaha.

Bill,

Thanks you so much for the new site. It is very useful site and I finally downloaded the pseudo GM map for S80 that I have been looking for a long time ( I do not like the XG plug-in card sounds ).
