hi ptmacaw,
I actually do not own a DGX300, but am seriously considering buying one. May I ask if you are able to easily compose into the onboard sequencer, and then save that "user song" to diskette as a SMF (Standard Midi File). If so do you happen to know if it will be an SMF0 or an SMF1 format file.
I've used in the past a Casio WK1800 and was very pleased with the sound quality and ease of use, but the reasons I sold it were:
1) I could not save the stored/created sequences (aka "user songs") to diskette as a standard MIDI file, but only in the Casio propriety format, which meant my MIDI files created were not portable to other devices.
2) I got too much noise out of an amp when plugged into my amp. I could have lived with this so this wasn't my biggest problem.
I am also currently looking into the Casio WK3500. It will probably be my choice if the "user songs" can be stored to diskette as SMF (either 0 or 1 is fine with me). I understand from reading posts in the General Arranger forum, or at least I've derived, that the sound quality is better in the WK3500 then it is in the DGX300.
Peace
Bob
