I have a PSR2000. I understand that it has the capability of having lyrics scroll across the LCD readout. If my midi files are just midi files, is there a way to insert the lyrics into the files?

Believe me, I've tried it a lot on my PSR2000. No success. Yamaha has made a fantastic machine but this function is very poorly presented.

Please use cakewalk or similar software. Its fast, accurate.

You will also find when you are step-recording, the 'rests' are not available. If your able to find it, can you tell me ?

Regards,
sam

merwyn...

ummm...I use cakewalk for all my sequencing. I had not planned to do much recording on the 2000. My sole purpose was to include the lyrics on the readout, so I wouldnt be dependent on lyric sheets that are so cumbersome and bulky to carry around. Unfortunately, one of my flaws is that it is difficult for me to memorize lyrics. I am a solo musician. If this is as difficult or impossible to do, then the board will not serve my purpose. PLease reply so that I did respond correctly to your letter.....and I thank you!

These keyboards are designed to use the Yamaha XF format for lyrics. You can download the spec from Yamaha's website. There are two docs - xfspec.pdf for the spec and xfrec.pdf for the recommendations. Might not help with the 2000 directly but you'll get more info.

If you use tune1000/Hot house/labyrinth/Songbusters & Chartbusters Generalmidi files these have the lyrics already encrypted on the disks:
To view the catalogues have a look at: www.musicallyyours.co.uk
