Well, for recording on a computer you should be able to control your effects like you can do it with your synths. Most digital effects have a midi port which allows you to control effect related values like pitch, EQ, in+out level, LFO speeds, and so on...
The same options should be available for you even if you're using virtual devices for your recordings...
