Hi There!

I had a KX-88 back in 1988! An excellent keyboard with a strong piano touch. The only problem with going down the master controller way is that you dont get any extra sounds. What are trying do? Are you recording onto the computer, or are you doing live stage work. For my money I think the PSR range of Yamaha keyboards have a lot to offer. I have a PSR-630 in you my studio. It has just under 700 sounds, full General midi and XG support. Built in disk drive, and a touch responce keyboard. It's great for studio recording/multitracking and also excellent stage use as you can load you backing tracks on the fly with the disk drive. Everything is together. No external mixing of keyboard and backing/drum machines! If you sing you may want to spend the extra money and get the PSR-740 or 8000. Both of the these have a vocal harmonizer that adds extra parts to your singing. The 8000 also adds a CD quality sampler. It is not as powerful as the pro gear - but enough to get professional results!

Please reply with more detail on what you want out of your keyboard.

Brad.

i Brad,
Thanks so much for your reply at synthzone. I
am just a beginner in midi and also music. I learn
piano for only one and a half year.
In fact, I would like to do what probably you're
doing. However, I am quite confused with midi. It is
because there is synth like the DX7, personal piano
like what you've introduced to me, the PSR series,
also
there are KX88 and also the dig. piano P200 that I
've interested in!
I just would like to learn, compose, record.
In order to do this, I know I should buy a master
keyboard. But it's hard to choose among all these
model I've mentioned above. So could you please give
me some advice.
Personally, my favourite thing in music is to
have a record of pop music like what the pop singers
do.

Thank you very much!!!

Best Regards,
Gary.

BRAD HERE!!!!

O.K. I think there are only two options for you.

1. Is the PSR option - this is a five octave keyboard. I use the PSR-630, however I am looking at upgrading to the new 740. I like the idea of the vocal harmony and new sweet voices.

2. Is the CVP option. This is the Clavinova. I use the CVP-92 in my studio and it is what I do must of my music recording on. The main feature for me is that it has a full size piano keyboard with weighted keys. The CVP also comes with some excellent learning software - guide lights where you can by music books (or just get file off the internet) and the keyboard will tell you what notes to play. It will also wait for you when you are just started your piece.

You can have a look at my students playing the CVP-92 and PSR-630 at:

The choice is yours.
Brad.
