I've been playing piano for a long time, but I've recently gotten more serious about it and started messing around in a band type environment.

I'd like to buy a semi-professional board, but I am kind of overwhelmed with the selection. I'm not even sure about what the different categories (arrangers, etc) are and what they are for.

Is there anywhere I could check out a guide for the ultra-newb that breaks it all down?

I'd obviously like lot's of good instruments to play with, but also I might like to wander into the realm of techno and other such things.

Basically I want a keyboard that will allow me to grow in a lot of different directions since I'm mostly learning by ear and fiddling right now.

So rather than burdening you guys with my ambiguity, is there a guide I could read that might help me be more clear on what I am looking for?
